POSITION SUMMARY: Performs renewable energy/EPA grant development, implementation and project planning and management of renewable energy projects for the Environmental and Natural Resources department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Co-Manage EPA and renewable energy grants, projects, and planning.
  • Assist with renewable energy outreach, including for GRID Alternatives solar applications and SWELL energy outreach.
  • Coordinate technical assistance and programs with Redwood Coast Energy Authority and Bureau of Indian Affairs.
  • Maintain current strategic plan related to renewable energy.
  • Research anddevelop grantproposals related to renewable energy, environmental and climate change.
  • Coordinate maintenance of residential and commercial solar arrays.
  • Assist with newsletters and reports to General Council and Tribal Council.
  • Attend trainings in various parts of the country, as requested, relative to position responsibilities.
  • In the absence of the director, position assumes those duties related to grant administration for the department.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position may manage day laborers or Environmental Technicians.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree in an environmental field with courses related to renewable energy and photovoltaic systems.
  • OR; equivalent combination of education and experience (Equivalent = two (2) years direct experience to one (1) year of education).
  • 1 year of grant management experience.
  • Working knowledge of chronological and alphabetical filing systems.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Shall possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
  • Able to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification.

COMPUTER OPERATIONS

  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
  • Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Strong self-motivation
  • Ability to produce formal documents.
  • Must be willing to work with a variety of people.
  • Must be flexible and willing to take direction.
