Tesla Gigafactory Nevada is looking for an experienced Quality Leader for Battery Cells and Energy Storage business. In this role you will build a world class quality team and process to enable Tesla to deliver safe and reliable stationary energy storage solutions to drive the mission to accelerate the worlds transition towards sustainable energy. This is a dynamic position where you work in partnership with quality engineering and production, to assure products and processes to be built right first time, and continuously improve them to meet Customer expectations and profitability goals.
The Manager provides hands-on support, leadership, and direction to their direct reports, and takes pride in their hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a track record of significant achievements, tremendous drive, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves.

What Youll Do

  • Lead supervisors, and Technicians to support production lines in Gigafactory Nevada site
  • Manage all laboratories and its assets to ensure 27×7 support with trusted test results. Manage capital expenditure (CAPEX) requests for labs and quality assurance equipment used in production and incoming inspection
  • Anticipate, comprehend, and implement laboratory operational requirements to support analysis for incoming quality and production in 24×7 manufacturing environment including:Lab facilities and environmental monitoring and control, Lab safety and adherence to any state, national or international requirements
  • Develop and Lead quality assurance team to support production lines, laboratories and incoming material quality activities supporting improvement initiatives across suppliers and manufacturing
  • Lead a quality assurance team of labs and operations technicians and supervisors to support production 24×7, implementing consistent standard work and training
  • Establish and meet clear quality metrics and objectives for quality assurance activities in Energy business
  • Develop standard work, training, performance metrics and development plan for quality operations and Labs teams to ensure that all products meet specifications and quality issues are prevented or addressed immediately
  • Drive professional problem solving and nurture a data driven team with advanced statistical, analysis and visualization skills

  • Develop and motivate a high performing team of exceptional engineers, supervisors and technicians

What Youll Bring

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical or Industrial Engineering
  • Six Sigma, CQE-ASQ or equivalent certifications are preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in product development, quality system or program quality
  • 3+ years of experience of Quality leadership in manufacturing and/or designing new products for high volume operations. Experience with battery cells and modules preferred
  • Proven track record to build and lead a strong team in a 24×7 manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in team building, leadership development, training, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Analysis, and SixSigma tools and methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize in highly dynamic production environment
