High level job description – mPower Technology is looking for a quality engineer in San Diego, CA. This position will be responsible for implementing quality policy and meeting quality objectives. He/she will develop and maintain product quality control plans, drive quality system performance, lead system audits and provide internal training. The Quality Engineer is also responsible for the coordination and supervision of QC teams, resolution of product issues, and customer support. With a focus on continuous improvement processes, the Quality Engineer must perform a range of duties supporting other teams to ensure sustainable business operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain product quality control plans
- Lead teams to investigate quality issues and drive solutions
- Lead and supervise Quality Control activities
- Assume responsibility for technical responses to customers on quality issues; lead investigations and drive corrective actions
- Liaise with Suppliers during visits, conduct process/system audits
- Track and resolve open issues pertaining to new product launches, develop control documents and other Customer/Supplier required quality documentation
- Provide written technical responses to Customers on quality issues
- Adhere to all environmental, health and safety rules and policies
- Conduct other duties as required

- Highly skilled and experienced quality engineer
- Experience in the solar power industry or the space industry is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering, or other engineering discipline; Special consideration given to Quality Accreditations and technical courses completed
- Demonstrated ability to drive process/product quality control
- Quality Control background, including problem solving and root cause analysis
- Strong leadership abilities and confident, consistent, decisive personality
- Self-directed
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
- Desire for innovative thinking and continual learning
- Excellent coaching, mentoring, mediating and negotiating skills
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills with MS Office and e-mail required
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Experience
- Required: Minimum 5 years experience in a Quality capacity within a complex semiconductor, aerospace, solar or manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of quality tools used in the industry
- Preferred: Familiar with NASA STD-8739.4 requirements
- Preferred: Experienced in ISO9001 and AS9100 working environments
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering
- Analytical and quantitative approach to problem solving
