Job Description

Eaton Corporation has an opening for a Microgrid & Distributed Energy Resource Systems (DERS) Product Line Manager (PLM) within the Electrical Engineering Services & Systems (EESS) division. This position can be based in the greater Pittsburgh area, where our Electrical Sector is headquartered, or remotely across the Eastern half of the US. Up to 25% travel will be required.

This position plays a key role in the development and execution of the Electrical Sectors Energy Transition strategy, which addresses a global trend towards decarbonization, the rise of renewables, the deployment of distributed energy resources, and the need for more flexible grid capacity.


What youll do:

In this role, you will have responsibility for the technology roadmap of Eatons intelligent microgrid controls solutions and will orchestrate the overall go-to-market strategy for Eatons distributed energy resource systems in North America. To achieve customer outcomes and business objectives, you will collaborate closely with peers across Eatons adjacent offerings such as turnkey project services, control services, engineering studies, battery energy storage solutions, energy management software, and electrical vehicle charging infrastructure.


In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Own the Microgrid/DERS product line go-to-market and growth strategy in alignment with sales, engineering, finance, and operations functions. Ensure the strategy is effectively communicated to stakeholders and provide ongoing performance to plan updates to senior leaders.
  • Maintain profit and loss responsibility for the product line to meet revenue and margin objectives, with emphasis on growing the opportunity pipeline, meeting orders objectives, and driving results
  • Understand the market trends and competitive landscape (direct and adjacent), while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the product applications and offering requirements.
  • Provide marketing requirements and overall business case ownership for new product development programs (microgrid controller offering) informed by competitors positioning and voice of customer.
  • Collaborate and partner with other product lines and/or external partners to achieve product line objectives while taking advantage of Eatons right-to-win.
  • Oversee quotation and pricing strategy to meet product line revenue and profitability targets

Work with Marketing-Communications (marcom) team to support the promotion of products and execute launches

  • Recruit, manage, and effectively coach the product management team
  • Serve as the product line spokesperson for external thought leadership, key customer/partner interactions, and negotiation of opportunities as needed.


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing direct reports
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical marketing, sales, strategic planning, operations or product line management
  • Experience and comfort leading in both technical and commercial spaces
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • Must reside within 50 miles of Moon Township, PA, or an accessible location within the Eastern or Central time zones in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in market analysis, product launches, and budget management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in providing sales/field support and customer/industry presentations
  • Experience working as a Product Manager in a related field
  • Experience working in the distributed energy resource market such as product technology or segment (utility, government, renewable energy, microgrids, energy storage, electrical vehicles, etc.), competitive landscape, partnerships, and/or deal structures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of ProLaunch process

  • The ideal candidate will be passionate and enthusiastic about microgrid/DERS technology which is vital for the growth of the business
  • Ability to synthesize disparate and complex information and simplify into effective presentations and recommendations to facilitate decision making with senior leader
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills required; ability to organize and present the business story in a cohesive and marketable way
  • Must be able to travel up to 25%, some international travel expected
  • Must be highly analytical, critical thinker and comfortable in dealing with ambiguity
  • Must be comfortable working in matrix organization to drive collaboration and decision making.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively at a variety of different organizational levels
  • Excellent quantitative analysis skills, especially developing business opportunity cases
  • Ability to collaborate with international businesses, colleagues, partners, & customers

The expected annual salary range for this role is $153749.97 – $225499.96 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
