As part of the Worldwide Environment team, Amazon’s Worldwide Carbon team is dedicated to working across the company with our business units to make operational changes to accelerate solutions and decarbonize our businesses in service of The Climate Pledge.

The Worldwide Carbon team is seeking a Principal, Net Zero Strategy to develop our path to reach net-zero carbon. This role will collaborate closely with Amazon’s science and carbon measurement teams on academic research, and support the business on abatement solutions and sectoral policies.

The ideal candidate will have a cross-sectoral background in climate change, with experience in large multi-country program coordination and strategy setting across multiple sectors and Business Units. Desired experience includes setting and implementing complex climate policies and global engagement plans.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage Amazon’s Net Zero Transition Plan to deliver the Climate Plan.
  • Collaborate with Worldwide Carbon and Business Units to continuously raise the bar on Amazon’s decarbonization strategy and implementation mechanisms, including the development of sectoral glidepaths and forecasts.
  • Work with diverse external stakeholders to develop, coordinate, and implement strategies and measures to reduce, measure, and report carbon reduction strategies.
  • Build relationships and trust with external academics, civil society, and suppliers working in decarbonization.
  • In close collaboration with Amazon’s Science and Sustainability and Sustainability Technology, develop internal- and external-facing scientific publications demonstrating Amazon’s approach to decarbonization.
  • Manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
