ONSHORE PROJECT ENGINEER

SUMMARY: Facilitate work that is needed on the barge & designated supporting terminal work area

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate and direct work necessary to maintain operational capabilities of barge.
  • Assist Barge Engineer with tasks and tasking of the following:
  • Barge Grillage maintenance
  • Sea fastenings
  • QR shim components when not aligned, as well as’
  • repair damaged guide dunnage.
  • Fueling Generator
  • Assist Site Supervisor with barge duties to include overseeing personnel.
  • This position requires on site attendance while the barge is loading and any time the barge is at the docking facility.
  • Participate in relevant internal and external meetings covering project strategy in offshore wind projects, including client meetings, vessel supplier meetings and third parties such as designers and shipyards.
  • Oversee onshore lifting team, ILA
  • Create DPRs, issue trackers.
  • Communicate with shoreside Marine Operations Manager regarding logistics requirements, challenges etc.
  • Experience with Lifting Operations

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from a maritime academy; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education. Junior 3 rd Engineer or Offshore O&G mechanical/marine engineer Experience is acceptable. Mariner Credential not required.

EXPERIENCE: 5-7 years of experience as a hands-on technician/engineer with expertise in hydraulics, generators, & control systems.Preferred; Knowledge of offshore construction vessels (Cable Lay, Heavy Lift, OSV, SOVs, CTVs, jack up etc.) preferred.

COMPETENCIES: Maintain exacting standards of ethical conduct, honesty, and integrity.

  • Experience influencing and directing motivated, cross-functional teams. 
  • Ability to recognize, differentiate, and direct responses to technical issues. 
  • Great written, verbal, and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to perform under high priority and innovative work environment handling multiple deliverables. 
  • English communications skills (verbal, active listening, written, meeting management, presentation) 
  • Ability to influence across organizational boundaries with a solid focus on working with and understanding diverse cultures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments. Must be able to commit to working 12 hour rotating shifts, onshore during a 28 on x 28 off schedule.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside an office environment and outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard, viewing of computer monitor, and ability to sit for extended periods.
