This includes the Community Offshore Wind project in New York/New Jersey Bight, the Canopy floating offshore wind project off of Northern California, and the first secured federal lease area for offshore wind development in the Gulf of Mexico. In joining our Projects & Investments team your role shall be to act as Finance Director for one of our large-scale Offshore Wind Farm project development commitments. The position plays a crucial part in the project, overseeing and guiding all financial aspects of the workstreams. The pertinent projects advanced development initiatives that either have established or are nearing the finalization of their market entry strategy, spanning from the pre-FID stage through to FID, followed by the commissioning process, and concluding with the transition to the operational phase.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the project’s broader finance department as an essential member of the Project Leadership Team jointly accountable for effective project completion alongside the Project Director while coordinating Finance related workstreams in particular; Budget cost controls, budgeting process, cash calls to share holder, contract management & change control processes.
  • Establish reporting processes and templates for Board Meetings, Steering Committees and other stakeholder requirements, both for RWE and other shareholders, set up of project governance & leadership.
  • Coordinating the business case development including respective timing, sensitivity identification, risk-adjusted results, scenario overviews and impact on IRR, HR, NPV and bid prices, tactics, proposals, ensure timely delivery of outputs per the agreed timeline.
  • Coordination of accounting and tax workstreams as well as the steering of legal, procurement and commercial functions based on internal governance guidelines.
  • Ensure bankability of project/portfolio and close collaboration with Structured Finance team(s) for both Project Finance as well as Tax Equity structures, support steering and selection of external advisors including financial advisors.
  • Ability to derive and check credible financial assumptions from benchmarking against other RWE projects and industry wide practices.
  • Identification (and support where necessary) of areas whereby the project economic return could be optimized; perform all necessary analysis into the areas and present results and the recommendation for consideration and approval.
  • Continuous financial review, monitoring of the project economics to include the reporting of results as required both within the project team (project director) and to the project steering committee, e.g. analyzing the implications of changes to MW capacity and size and timing of project phasing while at the same time ensuring that HSE objectives are not compromised.

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years’ experience developing & delivering large scale construction projects, ideally within offshore industry.
  • Broad finance background (in particular valuation, project financing, controlling), Accounting experience would be beneficial.
  • University degree in business administration, finance, banking or economics is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying a structured working approach while leading and motivating domestic and international teams.
  • A Comprehensive analytical and communicational skills both working in and with international groups and teams that conveys a integrative and trustful personality.
  • Capable to present in front of groups in fluent English (team, steering committees, board meetings etc.), other languages (esp. German) would be advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel as needed and required.
