Job Title: NA IT NERC Security Lead

What you will do

Role Overview:

The NERC System Lead will be responsible for managing, analyzing, installing, configuring, upgrading, test, documenting, monitoring and maintaining software and hardware in support of NERC technical and business processing requirements. Supported applications and systems may include operating systems, technical applications, server hardware, security tools, monitoring tools, Web servers, Application servers, Integration servers, and other NERC applications or systems. The NERC System Lead must participate in the development and execution of NERC technology strategies to support EDPRs activities and direction. Provides advanced level support for applications and systems; including troubleshooting, performance, monitoring, cost-benefit, security, and licensing analysis.

Main responsibilities:

  • Experience with and understanding NERC Standards including NERC CIP.
  • Evaluate network and systems changes/expansions for NERC security compliance.
  • Participate in security audits and conducts other functions independently or jointly with other departments
  • Prepares and/or assists with the development of company standards such as security procedures and computing equipment specifications
  • Daily reviews security auditing tools and logs for unusual activity and responds appropriately.
  • Manage company NERC server infrastructure (Windows and Linux) ; apply patches and perform upgrades as needed
  • Responsible for the managing, updating and implementation of NERC policies and procedures with a focus on physical and logical security & compliance (CIP)
  • Respond to user issues and requests, record solutions in IT Ticketing system
  • Contribute to internal control actions through risk assessments and lessons learned
  • Evaluate, prepare, and maintain materials for audits, self-certifications, spot-checks, internal compliance assessments, self-reports, mitigation plans, Reliability Standard Audit

Worksheets (RSAWs), and evidence documentation

  • Identifies process improvement opportunities based on internal compliance assessments, root cause analysis, and industry best practice
  • Collaborate with different business units to perform gap analysis on new Standards and establish processes to ensure NERC compliance and reliability of the grid
  • Evaluate, prepare, and maintain materials for audits, self-certifications, spot-checks, internal compliance assessments, self-reports, mitigation plans,

Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets (RSAWs), and evidence documentation

  • Identifies process improvement opportunities based on internal compliance assessments, root cause analysis, and industry best practice
  • Complete annual review of processes, procedures and integrate current CIP procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

What are we looking for

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field;
  • 5 or more years of professional System Administrator experience including 3 years of experience in power grid systems;
  • Direct experience or exposure to the following operating systems: Windows, Linux Red Hat;
  • Patching and baselining of systems to meet NERC CIP requirements;
  • Active Directory (AD) maintenance, configuration and support, consist of changing/creating Group Policy, Users, Groups, Service accounts;
  • Direct experience or exposure to Red Hat identity Management, Red Hat Satellite, Splunk, ISE/TACACS, WSUS, VMWare, VEEAM, McAfee, sFTP, MFA solutions;
  • Server HW hardening, Storage management and blades;
  • Experience supporting VMware, creating Templates, Servers, etc.;
  • Understanding of ancillary network services such as RADIUS, TACACS, ISE, NTP, LDAP and DNS;
  • Ability to document complex system design activities and configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures; communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility; perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively.

  • Ability and willingness to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as needed

  • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to perform work under pressure
