The Market Fundamentals Intern will play a crucial role in gathering key market information and analyzing various factors that impact geothermal development. Their work will directly contribute to the preparation of quarterly market fundamental reports enabling Fervo to accelerate deep decarbonization efforts. Under the guidance of subject matter experts on the Development team, this internship position will be responsible for conducting relevant research to gather information on climate and energy policy, power markets, and technology costs. Utilizing the collected data, the Market Fundamentals Intern will perform analysis to assess the impact of these factors on geothermal development.

Potential Project Examples

• Setting up data systems: Collaborating with the team, the intern will help establish data systems to scrape public power pricing data. This will involve leveraging data collection techniques and tools to gather essential information for market analysis.
• Analyzing geospatial datasets: the position will work with geospatial datasets to identify potential offtakers for geothermal energy. By utilizing advanced analytical techniques, assess geographic areas with high potential for geothermal development and provide valuable insights for Fervo’s business strategy.
• Researching Power Purchase Agreements: the role will involve researching, tracking, and categorizing existing power purchase agreements in the geothermal energy sector. This research will contribute to Fervo’s understanding of prevailing market trends and inform decision-making processes.

Qualifications

• Sophomore, Junior, or Senior actively enrolled in an undergraduate program, or any level of graduate program; Preferred majors: Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• Familiarity with climate and energy policy, power markets, and renewable energy technologies
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw meaningful conclusions from data
• Proficiency in conducting research and synthesizing information from various sources
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with data analysis tools and techniques is a plus
• Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team

Salary Description

$25-$45/hour
