Job Description

We are searching for a Lead Project Estimator – Engineering & Construction on behalf of our client to join their Estimating Group within the Engineering & Construction Division. This position is a 1 yr. contract assignment. The Lead Project Estimator will be a key member of the inventive and vibrant Estimating Team and will support design, planning, and budgeting of projects.

In this senior level, the person must have experience in renewable estimating or construction and a passion for helping the client deliver clean, reliable power to its customers.

The ideal candidate has experience in the renewable and/or high voltage transmission industry, a highly developed understanding of construction means and methods, a deep understanding of wind, solar, substation, and transmission construction requirements, robust project management skills, and strong leadership qualities. In this role, the person will collaborate with cross functional teams involved in project development, planning and execution to develop project estimates and improve estimating tools.

This position develops, quantifies, costs, and provides a complete capital expenditure (CapEx) model for evaluating projects. CapEx models include all engineering, material, direct construction, and indirect construction costs. The person in this role will be providing technical guidance, estimating knowledge, market pricing, staffing considerations during the estimating process, and presenting results up to E&C management.

Location: Remote or Juno Beach, FL.

Will offer two months per diem for relocation or in-person training.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Day to day responsibilities include leading the preparation of estimate and the development of pricing models.

• Prepares capital cost estimates.

• Review designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggests alternatives when appropriate.

• Coordinate and interface on a regular basis with other departments to ensure communication and understanding of proposal/project objectives and the most efficient and productive utilization of resources.

• Review layouts, designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggests alternatives when appropriate.

• Remains current with technology and industry evolution to assure that project capital estimates anticipate the correct market conditions.

• Establish, build and implement metrics for cost and construction estimate

• Mentors and develops junior members of the team.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience

• Experience:7+ years

• Proficient with Excel

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in the following Fields of Study

o Engineering – Mechanical

o Engineering – Civil

o Engineering – Electrical

o Construction Science

o Construction Management

• Experience:10+ years

• Field Experience: 5+ years

• Strong preference for candidates with previous experience in renewables or transmission projects
