Job Title: Head/VP of Land Origination and Acquisition – Community Solar

As they continue to expand their portfolio, we are seeking a highly skilled Head/VP of Land Origination and Acquisition to lead their land acquisition efforts and support strategic growth.

Position Overview: The Head/VP of Land Origination and Acquisition will be a key leader responsible for driving the land acquisition strategy for community solar projects. This role involves identifying, evaluating, and securing prime land parcels for solar development, working closely with various stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in land acquisition within the renewable energy sector, with a specific focus on community solar.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute land origination strategies to identify and secure suitable land for community solar projects in targeted regions.
  • Manage and expand a pipeline of land opportunities, including site identification, assessment, and acquisition.
  • Lead and manage the existing land origination team, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure high performance and effective execution of land acquisition strategies.
  • Evaluate current team capabilities and identify areas for growth, with the aim of expanding and building out the team as project demands increase.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with landowners, developers, local authorities, and other key stakeholders to facilitate the acquisition process.
  • Oversee comprehensive due diligence on potential sites, including environmental, legal, and technical assessments, ensuring all projects meet regulatory and company standards.
  • Lead negotiations and finalize agreements for land leases, purchase agreements, and other relevant contracts.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including project development, legal, and finance, to align land acquisition efforts with overall project goals and timelines.
  • Stay updated on relevant industry trends, zoning regulations, and land use policies that impact community solar projects.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in land origination and acquisition within the renewable energy sector, with a strong focus on community solar projects.
  • Proven track record of securing land for large-scale solar projects, including experience with lease and purchase negotiations.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams, with the ability to build and scale teams effectively as the organization grows.
  • Strong network and relationships with landowners, developers, and local authorities in the energy sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of land use regulations, zoning laws, and environmental assessments as they pertain to solar energy development.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
