Job Description

Job Summary:

The Financial Specialist I/II will serve as a key member of the Business Operations team at the Carbone Cancer Center. This position will analyze, process, and audit a variety of complex financial transactions for our cancer researchers. This position will be the purchasing card site manager, coordinate internal work orders, complete complex purchase orders, and assist with e-reimbursements on a variety of funding sources, including grants, gifts, contracts, and internal sources. The position is responsible for learning and adhering to complex guidelines, policies, and procedures for travel reimbursement, procurement, and other accounting functions. The Financial Specialist also serves as a resource to cancer center stakeholders on these guidelines, policies, and procedures.

The Financial Specialist I/II will be a valuable member of the Carbone Cancer Center team. They will use their skills and experience to support the center’s mission of providing world-class cancer care.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year professional level relevant experience post high school required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional level relevant experience with procurement/purchasing operations and customer service preferred.
  • Experience with systems change management.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Extremely well-organized with a keen eye for detail
  • Able to thrive in fast-paced, challenging, and stimulating office environments.
  • Proficient in using spreadsheets for financial analysis
  • A strong communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to become proficient in data entry and the UW financial reporting system, as well as internal software applications, at a full performance level.

Work Schedule:

8am to 4:30pm M-F with flexible options available for discussion.

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 75% – 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Minimum $21.00 HOURLY
