About Us:

Climate Pledge Arena is the complete redevelopment of an historic landmark, originally built for the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair. Sitting at the base of the Space Needle on the Seattle Center campus, the arena is home to the NHLs Seattle Kraken, WNBA’s Seattle Storm, and the world’s biggest performers of live music and events. Since opening in October 2021, we have hosted over 400 public events and welcomed over 4 million guests. The arena has been awarded Sports Business Journals Sports Facility of the Year and Pollstars best new concert venue and is consistently ranked within Pollstars top 10 for top grossing arenas worldwide.

Seattle Arena Company, a division of Oak View Group (OVG), privately developed and now operates Climate Pledge Arena. OVG based in Denver, Colorado is a global leader in facility development, management, hospitality, and sales. Overseeing hundreds of venues across the globe including: UBS Arena in Belmont Park, NY, Moody Center in Austin, TX, Acrisure Arena in Greater Palm Springs, CA, Co-op Live in Manchester, UK, OVG is a positive disruption in the sports, live entertainment and hospitality industry.

Climate Pledge Arena is named after The Climate Pledge, an initiative founded by Amazon and Global Optimism asking global corporations to become net zero carbon by 2040. We have one of the most progressive sustainability programs of any arena our size, including being the first and only arena in the world to achieve the International Future Living Institutes first Zero Carbon Certification.

Position Summary:

Event Dispatchers will collaborate with the Command Center to ensure that our exceptional level of programming, including 41 Seattle Kraken home games, 18 regular season Seattle Storm games, 75 major music/entertainment events, and 25 miscellaneous events each year run smoothly and safely. Maintaining a professional demeanor and appearance is always required. Must be pleasant and courteous to all guests and co-workers. Must have the skills to deescalate confrontational situations using verbal skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Answers incoming calls and communications.
  • Coordinates response and delivery of received information to field staff.
  • Dispatches and deploys staff, and/or units based on communications received.
  • Adeptly uses multi-line telephone system, mobile phones, two-way radios, and other communications methods and networks.
  • Maintains calm communication with and provides instruction to incoming callers.
  • Administer all aspects of incident management in the Incident Management System (IMS)
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Communicate clearly with co-workers, supervisors, and management
  • Must be able to write complete reports for incidents encountered on duty
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years old or older
  • Working knowledge of basic security techniques
  • Ability to stay levelheaded and respond quickly in stressful situations
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be capable of staying alert with high attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, delegating when appropriate.
  • Ability to operate or to quickly learn a variety of communications systems.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience within a sports, entertainment, or related field
  • Previous security and dispatching experience

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working with dispatching equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Compensation

  • In accordance with the Washington State Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the expected rate for this position is $30.80/hr
  • This role is part-time, non-exempt, and eligible for overtime pay
