Chemours is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our growing Jesup Mining team! This position will report directly to the Environmental Manager.

The Environmental Technician will be responsible for day-to-day on-site environmental compliance, performing field inspections and monitoring, responding to on-call issues, and working with staff to anticipate environmental concerns and implement best practices. Duties will include monitoring and sampling water and air; reading and maintaining gauges and related equipment; erosion and sedimentation control installation and maintenance; waste management; water quality control; assisting in various field studies; communicating environmental compliance messages and assisting with environmental training; and maintaining environmental records and reports. The Environmental Technician will assist other environmental and operations staff at other Chemours facilities, as needed. The Environmental Technician will work closely with the Environmental Specialist, mine operations and planning team, staff at other facilities, and contractors to identify and proactively address environmental concerns.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate daily with the Environmental Specialist and Mine Manager to anticipate environmental concerns.
  • Perform routine and as needed mine site activities to ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulations, leases, and best practices.
  • Maintain all equipment, gauges, and related materials.
  • Take notes, complete inspection forms, maintain site records, and prepare summary reports.
  • Respond to on-call environment issues.
  • Coordinate with contractors to implement environmental best practices.
  • Assist the Environmental Specialist and mine operations team, as needed.
  • Take part in appropriate training to advance technical proficiency.
  • Interact with colleagues to identify and correct issues that may affect mine and plant production, operations, environmental stewardship, safety, and health.

The Following Is Required For This Role

  • High School diploma
  • Valid driver’s license
  • At least 1-year experience working in an industrial, construction, or similar position.
  • Strong work ethic and capability to work safely outdoors without direct supervision.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency – Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

The Following Is Preferred For This Role

  • Ability to read and interpret various gauges and meters, record field observations, and prepare simple reports.
  • Basic construction and/or mechanical experience is desirable, such as basic carpentry, ability to operate simple heavy equipment, small engine maintenance and repair, etc.
  • Experience with installing and maintaining erosion and sedimentation control measures or with water treatment are desirable.
