The Engineer I position is a new product development role within Watlows Technology and Development Organization (TDO) and located in St. Louis, Missouri. Initial projects include working with a cross-functional team to develop medium voltage electric heat exchanger solutions that enable our customers to achieve their electrification and decarbonization goals in support of the Energy and Environmental Technologies (EE Tech) business unit.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Write and execute test plans and procedures, both manual and automated
  • Setup and conduct tests according to pre-determined processes or methods
  • Implement modifications and analyze test results for presentation to development engineers/project team
  • Develop a strong expertise in testing to reinforce technical leadership
  • Ensure compliance with industrial standards such as IEC and UL for dielectric strength tests
  • Collaborate with compliance engineers and other stakeholders to clarify and meet testing requirements.
  • Support the resolution of technical issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identifies and drives improvements to reduce product, process, or project costs
  • Work closely with the Engineering leaders to test products, build prototypes, analyze results, perform statistical data analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in an engineering in Mechanical or Electrical or Two-year degree and 5-8 years of related engineering or equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and tools
  • Understand and apply engineering specifications, prints, drawings, standards, etc.
  • Familiarity with products produced by Watlow; heaters, sensors, and controls
  • Basic understanding of digital and analog electronic
  • Familiarity with electromechanics/electrotechnology
  • Experience with software testing tools and methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of six sigma approach
