What you will do
- Under general direction, participates as a leader of the Development Team to achieve department and project objectives on large projects, inclusive of new on-site renewable energy systems and energy storage.
- Leads engineering, process or financial tasks during both preliminary & detailed development of projects
- Conceptualize energy retrofit and renewable energy projects for customers that contain a broad set of JCI offerings as appropriate to meet the customer’s requirements.
- Supports engineering, process or financial tasks during solution design or during detailed development on large complex projects
- Responsible to establish an ongoing partnership with the customer on assigned projects
- Assists as needed in developing the customer business case for the conceptual solution
- Leads preliminary data collection and modeling efforts for assigned opportunities
- Validates assumptions made during solution design
- Builds a detailed development budget and scope
- Works with operations team and outside partners to develop project estimate and scope of work, as well as a preliminary & detailed energy savings & financial model (ROI),
- Assists in preparing proposals and other customer communication documents
- Acts as domain expert for a specific functional area, specifically renewable energy and energy storage
- Leads cross-functional teams in the development of multiple components of the bundled sale
- Performs detailed engineering or financial analysis to quantify cost savings or other customer benefits
- Assists in technical or financial benchmarking as needed
- Leads in the development of customer baselines
- Provides risk analysis for the complete solution
- Presents to technical buyer as required
- Assists in presentations to economic buyers or C-level clients
- Participates in transition meetings with Operations to ensure project scope and objectives, timeline and customer requirements are properly understood
- Responsibility for creating and managing budgets, timelines, and quality of assigned opportunities
- Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers and vendors as well as facility mid-level technical managers
- Responsible for remaining current with relevant engineering or design standards and practices
- May provide post-contract design review support
How You Will Do It
- By collaborating closely with our sales force.
- By traveling to customer sites throughout Hawaii, with being able to support western states, including California.
- By applying project management skills related to developing work breakdown structures, estimating costs, and developing schedules.
- By applying advanced energy engineering, engineering design, and financial modeling skills.
- By communicating with customer technical contacts, utility contacts, subcontractors, local branch offices, etc. to proactively obtain information needed to develop great projects for our customers.
Required
What we look for
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or a related field as appropriate
- Five to eight years experience in designing / selling building systems, renewable energy systems, energy modeling, construction or facility management
- Demonstrated vertical market expertise in solar PV and energy storage required
- Experience with permitting and utility interconnection requirements.
- Possesses strong analytical capabilities and ability to manage tasks associated with development of projects
- Fully competent in analysis and assessment of facility systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, work effectively with others, drive for results, focus on the customer, & acts ethically
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills and is comfortable working in customer-facing situations
- Solid computer skills, including an understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project
- Excellent business analysis skills used to create compelling business cases
- Ability to travel approximately 25%
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Mechanical or Electrical.
- Third-party technical or business certifications are desirable, such as PE or CEM certification.
- Solar PV certifications, such as NAPCEP.
- Expertise with solar PV and energy modeling software such as Helioscope, PVsyst, Energy Toolbase
- Experience with public sector vertical markets a plus.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $117,900 – $157,400 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
