Summary

The Enterprise Project Management Office at is seeking a dynamic Director to lead the enterprise project and program management practices while leading a team of Project and Construction Managers who overseer programs and projects ranging from $500,000 to $100 million. This role involves managing an $800M portfolio, focusing on innovative capital infrastructure programs through development, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. The Director will also lead the project controls organization, managing financial tracking, scheduling, resource management, and collaborating closely with Project and Program Managers to ensure accurate reporting and successful project outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in managing teams, strong process orientation, and expertise in financial and scheduling aspects. They will play a key role in decarbonization, growth, and grid resiliency initiatives, implementing new project management methodologies to standardize execution and drive process improvements. Effective communication and the ability to bridge gaps between cross-functional teams are essential for driving project success and promoting organizational synergies. Additionally, a history of successfully executing large and complex projects is crucial. This position offers the opportunity to significantly impact capital spending on generation, transmission, distribution, and facility assets.

Key Responsibilities

Director Project Management Office Owns the process of project and program management for the enterprise. Ensures all processes are aligned to and deliver on the objectives of the enterprise. Ensures continuous process improvement to help project and program managers deliver all assigned projects and programs on time, within budget, and achieving all goals and benefits. Develops strategy for accurate cost estimates, forecasts, budget input and schedules regarding project expenditures. Ensures adoption and adherence to project and program management processes. Creates systems to detect and resolve project and program issues early, preventing organizational impact. Ensures all processes and practices meet or exceed regulatory and audit requirements for regulators.

Contract Management Oversees contractor performance for generation, transmission and distribution projects and programs including safe operations, quality of work, and change orders. Leads strategy for contract changes/conflicts and supports discussions, audits, mediation, arbitration, negotiation, separation, or litigation. Represents to protect interests.

Functional Leadership Exercises comprehensive functional and industry knowledge in specialized areas; directs the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems; exercises delegated authority over planning, direction and timely execution of a function or program within the organization; Establishes and maintains strong relationships with senior management within and outside the company, government agencies, and industry leaders to effectively accomplish program objectives.

Financial Management Sets strategy and develops plans, policies and processes for the accounting, budgeting and, where applicable, charging of function resources and services, including the definition of cost models, and charging models; sets, negotiates, approves and manages all financial budgets and targets, ensuring that there is adequate funding for function objectives and plans.

Resourcing Oversees workforce planning and resource strategy for the function, ensuring that there are adequate skilled resources to meet planned service delivery or function objectives; ensures integration with strategic human resource plans. Develops strategy for service level agreements for internal work and outsourcing of work to execute and deliver capital projects.

Professional Development Determines organizational development needs in line with business needs and strategic direction of the function; generates development strategies to achieve required change; develops and implements succession plans for key roles and may mentor senior leaders in the organization.

Qualifications

Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or project management or other related field or equivalent experience.

Experience Typically, 15 or more years in related field.
