About This Opportunity

We are seeking a Commercial Strategic Energy Management Program Manager to oversee management of our Southern California Edison (SCE) Commercial SEM delivery and help Cascade grow in the Commercial SEM market. The Commercial SEM Program Manager will be the people manager for the SEM Specialist and Coaches delivering work on this contract. The ideal candidate comes with a comprehensive understanding of commercial energy efficiency, commercial customer care-abouts, and a passion for commercial sector decarbonization. The Commercial SEM Program Manager will report to the SEM Director and will have a role in onboarding and mentoring people new to the SEM business unit and leading our Commercial SEM Innovation.

What You Will Be Doing:

Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Leading cross-functional, multi-department SEM delivery teams that include SEM Coaches, SEM Specialists, SEM Tech Leads, Energy Modelers, Data Leads, and subcontractors.
  • Meeting targets for billable hours, revenue, and profitability (gross margin and other metrics) for team members.
  • Providing monthly revenue forecasting and managing monthly savings forecasting.
  • Ensuring subcontractors meet performance and work quality expectations.
  • Collaborating with Engineering Managers to ensure SEM programs are appropriately staffed.
  • Creating and executing plans to achieve energy savings and other contracted targets or KPIs.
  • Onboarding and mentoring people new to the SEM business unit.
  • Contributing to Commercial SEM Innovation
  • Educating SEM delivery staff on the nuances of commercial best practices and growing Cascades commercial SEM capabilities.
  • Strategically working with SEM Director to create new markets and new directions for Cascade SEM.
  • Contributing to integration of Greenhouse gas emissions reduction into SEM curriculum.

  • Fostering positive relationships with clients.
  • Quickly addressing issues to ensure high levels of satisfaction with customers and clients.
  • Managing client communications
  • Clarifying program and contract guidelines, including parameters, deliverables, and budget.
  • Overseeing teams on reporting to the client on expenditures, activities, achievements, progress to goal in a manner that is simple, timely, accurate, complete, succinct, transparent, and suited to the clients needs.
  • Problem Solving
  • Developing and implementing recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated outcomes, including technical challenges and shortfalls in performance as they arise.
  • Overseeing budget management
  • Tracking program against schedule, budget, and phase review objectives, and regularly reporting status to the SEM Director.
  • Setting standards for delivery and reporting
  • Ensuring continual improvement in delivery.
  • Planning, administering, and evaluating the program and its results, as required by program specific contracts.
  • Exploring opportunities to develop new work, in collaboration with the SEM and Customer Engagement Directors, and promote Cascade and SEM across the country.
  • Assisting with proposals, pricing, and contract negotiations.

This is a full-time, exempt position supporting the SoCal Edison SEM contracts. While there is a preference for this role to be in Southern California, we are open candidates with a willingness to travel regularly.

Travel for this role is dependent on location of the candidate. For a candidate based in southern CA travel is expected to be 25% or less with most travel consisting of day trips to participant sites in SCE territory. For a candidate based elsewhere travel will be 25-35% with flights to SCE territory expected for typical in person SEM events as well as for mentoring and meeting with team in person.

Qualifications

Applicants for this role are required to have:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering preferred, or Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or other related field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expertise in energy efficiency in Commercial Buildings.
  • An understanding of the SCE project approval process as well as typical barriers to this process and techniques for working through these barriers, preferred.
  • Management of commercial strategic energy management contracts and program delivery.
  • Project management experience, preferably in energy efficiency or related industry.
  • Ability to understand and foster the customer relationship and drive sales to successfully translate clients needs into short- and long-term business strategies and initiatives.
  • Broad communication skills, comfortable with people at all levels of an organization, from plant managers to equipment operators.
  • Understanding of commercial technologies and energy efficiency best practices.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to adeptly juggle multiple projects, program offerings, customers, deadlines, and demands.
  • A strong grasp of project financial metrics and the use of these metrics to track trends.
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets.

Compensation & Benefits

Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. These include health (90% paid for team member, 70% paid for dependents on HDHP plans and 85% paid for team member, 65% paid for dependents on PPO plans), vision, FSA or HSA options with an employer contribution, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid parental leave, 401k retirement plan with a guaranteed 3% contribution, Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), annual cash performance bonus, paid vacation, sick time, and an inclusive, flexible paid holiday policy. The salary range for this position in Southern California area is $116,000 – $141,500/year. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
