Job Overview

The Electrical Engineer is part of the sales and fulfillment team, responsible for delivering custom-engineered power solutions. This role involves working with clients, sales engineers, and project managers to design electrical systems for energy storage solutions. Post-sales, the engineer participates in the design and fulfillment process, providing both AC and DC electrical solutions.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design AC and DC electrical systems and wiring schematics for battery enclosures and shelters.
  • Develop battery charge and discharge mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to create concepts for sales proposals.
  • Assist in preparing general arrangement (GA) designs and single-line schematics post-contract award.
  • Oversee development from concept to final solution.
  • Create electrical engineering designs for AC and DC distribution and system controllers.
  • Prepare design and assembly drawings for in-house fabrication.
  • Conduct fault current analysis and arc flash hazard assessments.
  • Participate in component selection and procurement.
  • Contribute to product line development and cost reduction strategies.
  • Supervisory experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC electricity and renewable energy systems.
  • Understanding of battery chemistry and charging/discharging scenarios.
  • Familiarity with 3-phase power systems, low/medium voltage design, and electrical distribution.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers, SEL RTACs, protective relays, and power system controls.
  • Safety-minded, with familiarity with OSHA and utility safety culture.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, industry standards, and codes.
  • Proficiency with office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and design tools (Solidworks Electrical, Draft-Site, SKM/PTW, Python, Matlab) is preferred.
  • PE license or the ability to pursue licensure is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Normal hearing and vision, with or without corrective aids.
  • Good manual dexterity for using computers and other technologies.
  • Primarily indoor office work with extended periods of sitting and computer use.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.) and travel for fieldwork may be required.
