An incredible opportunity at an innovative leading energy storage solutions company, seeking a highly experienced Director of Battery R&D for their facility in Boston. The company is renowned for its cutting edge Lithium Cell and energy storage product research, design, development, and manufacturing, serving both commercial and government/military clients.

Position Summary:

The Director of Battery R&D will spearhead the R&D team, driving innovation in energy storage solutions. Responsibilities include proposing, planning, and executing R&D programs, managing budgets and timelines, and acting as the primary technical liaison with customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage R&D programs for government and commercial clients.
  • Create and oversee work plans, test plans, and work requests.
  • Ensure timely delivery of project milestones and manage budgets effectively.
  • Present research findings internally and to customers.
  • Author technical reports and deliver presentations at industry conferences.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
  • Adhere to company policies and safety guidelines.
  • Support team management functions and career development for direct reports.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in chemistry, electrochemistry, chemical engineering, physics, materials science, or a related field. An M.S. with substantial industry experience (minimum 10 years) may be considered.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 10 years in the battery or electrochemical energy storage industry, and 5+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Expertise in battery science, electrochemistry, materials synthesis, and analytical methods.
  • Strong project management and customer communication skills.
  • Familiarity with battery manufacturing processes and testing equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel for customer visits and industry conferences.
  • Compliance with ITAR requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
