Scope of Job PowerFlex, an EDF Renewables company, is a leading national provider of intelligent onsite energy solutions that support carbon-free electrification and transportation. The Company delivers integrated solar, storage, EV charging, and microgrid systems, to businesses and organizations. As a single full-service provider, PowerFlex customizes clean technology solutions to help clients achieve their energy and sustainability goals. Through the comprehensive PowerFlex X platform, PowerFlex leverages patented smart software to control, monitor, and optimize a client’s distributed energy resources to reduce cost and maximize return on investment. Our technology was developed at Caltech, deployed with research partners like NASA, proven-out with customers like Netflix and Children’s Hospital, and now scaling to fleets, corporations, and municipalities nationwide.

The Director/Manager of Strategic Finance & Reporting will lead the company’s strategic finance function. They will be responsible for building detailed forecasts, tracking company performance and performing various other strategic and financial analyses, including in support of M&A and capital raising activity. This role will work directly with senior executives and will have an impact to major strategic and operational decisions.

Location

This role is open to be 100% remote or a hybrid role out of one of our offices (Mountain View, CA, San Diego, CA or New York, NY.)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and monthly update of PowerFlex’s near-term financial forecast through close collaboration with the company’s project and product groups and senior leadership
  • Develop the company’s long-range financial planning scenarios based on business objectives, strategic growth initiatives and market outlooks
  • Drive the annual budgeting process working with department heads to evaluate expected expenditures and headcounts in the context of business objectives and track actuals against budget on an ongoing basis
  • Support strategic activity including M&A and capital raise
  • Partner closely with the Controller and the accounting group to ensure a timely month-end close, monitor and summarize actual financial and operating results and compare against budgets and prior forecasts
  • Work closely with the executive team to prepare summary financial results, analyses and tracking of KPIs for Board meetings
  • Identify and drive initiatives to continuously improve, automate and scale forecasting and reporting tools and processes, including data visualization dashboards and FP&A software tools

Qualifications

Manager – Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics or business a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting, professional services firm
  • Experience with and ability to quickly learn SaaS tools such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Sitetracker, Procore, ClickUp, and Data Rails

Director – Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics or business a plus
  • 10+ years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting, professional services firm
  • 5+ years of experience in a management role
  • Experience with and ability to quickly learn SaaS tools such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Sitetracker, Procore, ClickUp, and Data Rails

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Exceptional financial modeling skills, experience building three statement financial models and scenario analysis
  • Ability to analyze financial, statistical, and operational data
  • Experience / knowledge of clean energy industry, including both project and product companies
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Compensation

The pay range for the Manager level of this role is $120,000 – $150,000 annually.

The pay range for the Director level of this role is $150,000 – $200,000 annually.

This position is eligible for PowerFlex’s comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). PowerFlex’s compensation packages carefully consider a candidate’s qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position.

Physical Requirements

Normal office environment. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds at times.

Working Conditions

95% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 5% of time is spent outside of the office visiting vendors’ and/or internal customers’ sites in additional to attending various conferences and meetings.
