Position Overview

The Director of Project Development will act as business developer for specific U.S. projects. Responsible for managing all phases of Data Center project development, including the evaluation, realization of projects and B2B sales to potential clients. The Director of Project Development will collaborate with the local team, and will act as a mentor to, and leader of, junior team members. This position is expected to travel up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Partnership Development: Identify and cultivate relationships with companies seeking to build data centers. Act as the primary point of contact, understanding their needs and presenting tailored renewable energy solutions
  • Project Management: Oversee the preparation of land and provisioning of utilities (solar energy, water, fiber, etc.) to ensure readiness for data center construction. Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to meet project milestones and deadlines
  • Sales Leadership: Develop and execute sales strategies to attract and secure clients for data center projects. Drive revenue growth through effective sales techniques and strategic market positioning
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape. Use insights to inform business development strategies and enhance the company’s market position
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various stakeholders, including utilities, local communities, financial investors, and other partners to facilitate project development and execution
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations for power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other contracts, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with regulatory requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is preferred
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role within the Data Center sector
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects and closing high-value deals
  • Extensive experience in managing the installation processes within a data center environment
  • Strong understanding of the data center market, including industry trends and competitive landscape
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and stakeholders
