Job Description Summary

As the Senior Manager of Corporate Communications, you will play a pivotal role in improving our company’s brand positioning and promoting our Renewables strategy and related business objectives. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Communications, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, executives, and other key collaborators to craft compelling narratives that resonate with internal and external audiences. You will be an innovative and strategic problem-solver, who enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced and changing environment, and is comfortable working under tight deadlines.

Job Description:

  • Strategic Counsel: Provide advice and counsel on communications matters to business and other function leaders.
  • Impactful Messaging: Develop and implement the corporate communication strategy, aligned with business goals and the broader organizational objectives. Translate complex information into clear, impactful messages.
  • Content Creation: Write and edit executive presentations and content, media materials such as statements and releases, organization announcements, newsletter content, and other materials. Ensure consistent messaging across all channels and partner to strengthen our brand with communities.
  • Collaboration: Actively engage with senior leaders in both business and global teams to ensure coordination across business and functional areas.
  • Employee Engagement: Lead internal communications, ensuring that all employees are informed, engaged, and motivated towards achieving the business’ objectives.
  • External: Partner with existing external communications teams to enhance visibility and reputation in the industry, and support AES’ broader company narrative and priorities, with a focus on Renewables; may include cultivating media relationships to improve message positioning.
  • Crisis and Reputation Management: Provide guidance in handling change and major issues/crisis communications. Co-develop communications strategies and implement innovative and effective communications aimed at our people and other key stakeholders, including but not limited to suppliers, news media, industry associations, legislators, regulators, communities
  • Measurement: Report on important metrics for key communications activities, in alignment with the broader analytics reporting.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • BA or BS or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations, or related field with 10 years of experience in corporate communications working in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Communications experience working in a publicly traded industrial, energy or renewables company preferred.
  • Reputation and crisis communications experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, including experience thoughtfully navigating and placing media stories.
  • Strong understanding of business drivers.
  • Successful track record at building relationships and influence.
  • Able to work independently, effectively prioritize work and exercise good judgment.
  • Highly inclusive, strong collaborator and team player.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $149,000 and $186,150/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
