Job Title: Content Marketing Specialist
Salary: $85,000-98,000, commensurate with experience
Location: Requires CA residency and on-site work in Redwood City. Employees will be expected to travel to attend in-person meetings on at least a quarterly basis at the Peninsula Clean Energy office in Redwood City, CA. Other in-person meetings may be required.

POSITION SUMMARY:
PCE is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented marketing specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will focus on executing marketing initiatives across various physical and digital channels to engage our target audience, enhance brand awareness, and support our marketing goals. This role requires a blend of marketing operations expertise and creative storytelling abilities.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working with the PCE marketing team, this positions responsibilities include:
Digital Marketing Campaigns:
- Support digital marketing campaigns across email, organic and paid social media, search engines, and display advertising.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of digital marketing campaigns, providing regular reports and insights to optimize future efforts.
Content Creation:
- Publish content for blogs, social media, email campaigns, website pages, and other marketing materials.
- Develop compelling and engaging content that aligns with our brand voice and values and messaging.
- Collaborate with designers to create visual content, including infographics, images, and videos.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with the marketing team to align content with overall marketing campaigns and goals.
- Assist in the development of content briefs and guidelines for consistency and quality control.
- Support cross-functional teams by providing content for different departments as needed.
Content Optimization:
- Ensure all content is optimized for SEO to increase organic search visibility and drive traffic.
- Utilize keyword research tools to identify and incorporate relevant keywords into content.
- Monitor and analyze content performance metrics to refine and improve content strategies.
Content Distribution:
- Schedule and publish content across various platforms, including social media and website.
- Coordinate with the marketing team to ensure timely delivery and consistency of content across channels.
- Manage the content calendar to maintain a steady flow of content and meet deadlines.
Social Media Management:
- Manage and grow our social media presence across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and others.
- Engage with our online community, working with our customer care team as needed to respond to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.
- Schedule and publish content across various platforms, ensuring timely delivery and consistency.
Email Campaigns:
- Maintain the organization-wide email communications calendar.
- Assist with the day-to-day execution of email communications for all major institutional announcements, including e-newsletters and segmented campaigns.
- Lead the email process from start to finish by assigning tasks for necessary assets, building campaigns using best practices, routing campaigns for copy edits, creating subscriber lists, deploying emails, and analyzing email performance.
- Manage e-newsletters by brainstorming content ideas, assigning tasks, creating drafts, deploying campaigns, and analyzing results to make data-driven content decisions.
- Create dynamic content, triggered emails, and drip campaigns to meet organizational needs.
- Review organization-wide emails to ensure alignment with brand voice, aesthetic standards, and proper grammar.
- Use the CRM to create email subscriber lists and reports.
- Conduct A/B testing to optimize email performance.
- Track email KPIs, maintain email metric dashboards, conduct data analysis and make recommendations for improving the email content strategy.
Website Operations:
- Create, update and maintain website content through the CMS and troubleshoot issues, as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve the website, such as new functionality and SEO.
- Actively participate in an internal web team by identifying website needs, conducting quality assurance testing and ensuring that new functionality is working as expected post-launch.
- Use Google Analytics, HotJar and other tools to track website KPIs, gain insights from data analysis, and make recommendations for improvements.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as engagement rates, traffic, and conversion rates.
- Establish baseline measurements, set goals, track KPIs, and conduct data analysis to identify trends and insights, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Conduct competitive analysis to stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
- Lead and/or assist in building, routing and deploying surveys; conduct data analysis and share insights with the larger team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in content marketing, copywriting, or a related role.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in SEO best practices and tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, or Ahrefs.
- Experience with marketing technology, including marketing automation platforms (MAP), content management systems (CMS), Digital Asset Management systems (DAM), and social media platforms.
- Awareness of new and emerging web, email, social media and/or analytics technologies
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Passion for staying updated on industry trends and digital marketing innovations.
Metrics for Success:
- Content performance: Engagement rates, click-through rates (CTR), and social shares.
- SEO metrics: Organic traffic growth, keyword rankings, and backlinks generated.
- Content distribution: Timeliness and frequency of content publication.
- Audience engagement: Comments, likes, and direct feedback on content.
- Conversion rates: Leads generated and conversion rates from content-driven campaigns.
