As a vital member of their Renewables Group, you will oversee commercial and industrial solar projects across California, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Project Manager, you will collaborate with a talented team of engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver innovative solar solutions that support California’s clean energy goals. Your responsibilities will include managing the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and client consultations to execution and final delivery. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating the complexities of solar project management, including permitting, procurement, construction, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:

Project Management: Lead a portfolio of commercial solar projects, serving as the primary or co-Project Manager based on project requirements.

Planning and Organization: Plan and organize projects under the guidance of a Project Executive or Division Manager.

Construction Oversight: Ensure construction completion aligns with contract documents.

Contract Management: Perform detailed contract review and management.

Expertise Development: Become the company expert in all aspects of the project’s general and special conditions.

Estimating: Prepare detailed estimates for selected projects, reviewing plans, specifications, and bid forms.

Cash Flow Management: Maintain a positive cash flow through effective management.

Client Interaction: Conduct initial client contact to determine scope, schedule, and resources needed for successful project completion.

Budget Management: Ensure that labor, material, equipment, and subcontract budgets are met or exceeded.

Material Management: Produce accurate bills of material for major equipment purchases.

Subcontract Negotiation: Negotiate subcontractor terms and issue comprehensive subcontracts.

Payment Processing: Generate subcontract requisitions, process vendor invoices, and track payment schedules.

Team Collaboration: Meet daily with Assistant PMs and PEs to manage tasks, providing mentorship and guidance.

Preconstruction Activities: Manage preconstruction tasks such as permit submittals, equipment procurement, and prefabrication coordination.

Onsite Management: Attend job walks and onsite meetings, updating job status reports and schedules.

Labor Reporting: Ensure weekly labor reporting and that manpower projections stay within budget.

Schedule Management: Create and maintain project schedules, ensuring projects stay on track.

Change Order Management: Prepare and negotiate all change orders.

Cost Reporting: Prepare monthly cost reports under the supervision of a Senior PM or Division Manager.
Qualifications:

Experience: 4+ years of combined experience in electrical project engineering, estimating, and project management.

Project Management: Proven experience directly managing electrical projects.

Estimating: Experience in estimating change orders.

Knowledge: General understanding of contract plans/specs and project accounting.

Education: Successful completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program, extensive experience in the electrical industry, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Procore (or similar project management software) and Accubid Change Order (or similar estimating software).
