Engineering Co-op opportunity for the Spring, Summer, or Fall of 2025 is available on the AES Ohio Forecast, Modeling, and Analysis Team.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should be a student pursuing a four-year degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical strongly ). Additional consideration will be given to candidates with a strong drive to solve complex problems, exceptional attention to detail, and effective communication skills. Primary Duties
The Forecast, Modeling, and Analysis team has three areas of focus (Transmission, Distribution, and Interconnection). Accordingly, the successful candidate may be assigned to focus on one area, while also supporting other subgroups, during their co-op based on skills and interests. Contribute to each of the following groups by:
Transmission: Perform power flow and contingency analysis, and support project development, which includes preparing project documentation – need statements, potential solutions, cost estimates and one-line diagrams. Support PJM modeling requests.
Distribution: Plan additions to the distribution system with smart grid, solve voltage and fusing problems, meet with workers in the field to propose solutions for poor performing circuits, and update loading data and ratings.
Interconnection: Participate in the interconnection process of renewable energy customer projects, including residential projects on the distribution system and large-scale projects on the transmission system.
