Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust financial processes and systems to support plant operations
- Manage the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, and conducting variance analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Collaborate with plant management to optimize operations and maintain financial integrity
- Direct the annual budgeting process and provide precise forecasting to guide strategic decision-making and resource allocation
- Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Identify and implement cost control measures to optimize plant operations and improve profitability
- Lead the daily volumetric accounting for inbound and outbound truck deliveries, production, and fuel inventory
- Calculate production costs and assess the impact of renewable fuel incentive programs
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide actionable financial insights to plant management
- Interact with county officials to manage property tax assessments and ensure compliance
- Prepare and present comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Ensure adherence to industry regulations, GAAP, and internal company policies
- Support the plants start-up phase by developing financial models and strategies to manage financial risks
- Mentor and guide the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth
- Maintain a robust risk management framework to address financial risks associated with biofuel production, including market volatility and regulatory changes
- Drive process improvements and leverage technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy within financial operations
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in plant finance or accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the energy or manufacturing sector
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, fixed asset management, and inventory control
- Experience with renewable energy incentive programs is highly desirable
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to develop and implement financial processes in a start-up or growth environment
- Exhibits a hands-on leadership style, demonstrating that no task is too small and leading by example to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Proficient in accounting software and advanced Excel skills
- Work Environment:
- Office setting within a plant environment; some travel may be required
- Exposure to typical plant conditions may occur; adherence to safety protocols is essential
