Are you an experienced sustainability professional who is passionate about Net-Zero Carbon? Are you interested in a high impact role at the world’s preeminent cloud computing company? The AWS Sustainability team is looking for a results-oriented Sustainability Specialist to develop and implement strategies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the company's supply chain This role will work hand in hand with our Supply Chain team in support of our Climate Pledge goal of Net-Zero Carbon by 2040. The ideal candidate will have industry experience leading programs to assess supply chain emissions, identify hotspots, and develop tailored decarbonization strategies aligned with corporate sustainability goals. The individual will be responsible for analyzing Scope 3 carbon data, managing supplier sustainability metrics, engaging with external business partners and across internal organizations, and delivering decarbonization results for AWS customers. This role requires a dynamic individual who can independently manage technical sustainability data, clearly communicate to leadership on complex topics, and drive our commitment to carbon reduction measures. Teamwork is an absolute must to accomplish our goals. You must be able to work within a team while depending on and driving others to accomplish goals for our customers.
Key job responsibilities
In This Role You Will Be Responsible For
- Developing and maintaining a robust data collection and analysis system to accurately measure and track detailed supplier emissions
- Engaging with suppliers and other stakeholders to gather relevant data and information required for emissions calculations.
- Preparing actionable reports on the company's Scope 3 emissions, reduction targets, and progress toward achieving those targets
- Working closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement and product development, to identify and implement emissions reduction opportunities.
- Identifying and exploring new technologies, processes, and innovative solutions that can contribute to further emissions reductions in the supply chain.
- Building and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive programs to completion, including stakeholders located in the Asia Pacific region.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Environmental Science, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), or other Sustainability-related field, or 5+ years of additional field-specific work experience.
- 3+ years of experience developing and executing environmental sustainability programs in the private or public sector
- Experience obtaining, managing, and analyzing carbon data
- Familiarity with life cycle assessment (LCA) and corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory management
- Knowledge of relevant GHG standards and reporting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, CDP, SASB).
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in environmental science, engineering, business or related degree (MBA/Masters/PhD)
- 3+ Years experience working in supply chain or procurement in a technical environment
- Experience working on supplier decarbonization at a large corporation
- Experience leading programs involving multiple teams and stakeholders
- Proven ability to interface successfully with senior leadership, suppliers, and customers
- Proven track record of managing large projects from start to finish, including project management, data gathering, problem solving, and communicating recommendations and goals across multiple leadership levels of an organization
- Solid understanding of the electronics industry, including the specific challenges related to products and its supply chain and their impacts on carbon footprint

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $177,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
