Title: Quality Assurance Engineer (RMA)
Location: Ashburn, VA
The primary focus of this role is to support Quality, ISO 9001 standards and organization at the manufacturing site, both internally and externally. This position requires significant engagement with all aspects of product and manufacturing processes while enhancing visibility, communication, and collaboration with key departments.
Responsibilities
- Collect, analyze, and monitor company process and quality metrics against defined objective parameters.
- Author technical reports for management detailing quality levels, issues, and costs.
- Optimize manufacturability, assembly, testability, cost, and quality of both in-house and purchased components and final products.
- Monitor product performance and quality by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.
- Implement PFMEA and new programs, including tooling and manufacturing processes, to identify and mitigate risks.
- Ensure manufacturing processes meet customer and industry specifications and requirements.
- Identify and specify training needs related to quality and workmanship standards.
- Provide technical expertise on statistics, Six Sigma methodology, tools, and best practices.
- Define, document, and implement manufacturing and assembly processes and quality procedures in collaboration with department staff.
- Conduct internal and external corrective actions.
- Maintain and report department KPIs.
- Facilitate problem-solving techniques within the production team, including suppliers.
- Establish and drive standard work and best practices.
- Document clear project actions and ensure timeline achievement.
- Develop robust, predictive quality systems in the production environment using world-class techniques (e.g., Six Sigma, SPC, GRR, 5Y, CAR).
- Collaborate with the Engineering team on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Conduct failure analysis to support production and assembly.
- Identify and document best practices in collaboration with other divisions.
- Perform internal audits, report findings, and help resolve non-conformances.
Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing and quality processes within a plant, division, or company, including both design and production organizations.
- Solid background in Six Sigma methodology (green belt minimum, black belt preferred).
- Experience with the development, manufacturing, and testing of equipment, fixtures, and processes for electrical connectors, harnesses, and/or equipment.
- Creative, logical, and independent problem-solving skills in manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, regulatory compliance, and quality fields.
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and delegate tasks effectively without formal authority.

Education And Experience
- Degree/Diploma in Engineering or a related discipline.
- 2-3 years or more of related experience in quality assurance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Access, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience with UL/CSA and ISO 9001 QMS systems.
