Overview
The goal of this position is to demonstrate maximum utility resource efficiency across the network of manufacturing facilities, continuously assessing critical energy & process water processes and systems in Pactiv Evergreen; and, implementing programs that will have long-term benefits.
From these technical assessments, develop and implement targeted plans that address gaps in the facilities. As our manufacturing technology, automation, and opportunity for optimization increase, we must transfer knowledge, network and leverage best practices within our manufacturing sites as we continue to develop a Lean Management System to run our facilities.
The Energy Engineer is committed to reducing our environmental footprint and optimizing resource usage including energy & water usage, we are seeking an experienced Energy Engineer to join our team. As an Energy Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing resource -efficient solutions to enhance our manufacturing processes and support the Pactiv Evergreen Production System (PEPS).
Responsibilities
As an Energy Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing resource consumption patterns (including energy & water), identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to optimize energy & process water usage within our manufacturing facilities. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will develop and execute energy & process water conservation projects aimed at reducing costs and environmental impact while ensuring operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive energy & process water audits to assess current energy & water consumption levels and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Analyze data on energy & water usage, production processes, and equipment performance to develop strategies for energy & water optimization.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to implement resource -efficient technologies and practices.
- Design and oversee the implementation of energy & water conservation projects, including retrofitting, equipment upgrades, and process improvements.
- Evaluate the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and biomass for integration into manufacturing operations.
- Monitor and analyze energy & process water performance metrics to track progress and identify additional opportunities for optimization.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on resource -related matters to support decision-making at all levels of the organization.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to energy management and sustainability.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on conservation practices and promote a culture of sustainability within the organization.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including government agencies, utilities, and industry associations, to leverage resources and incentives for energy efficiency initiatives.
Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- Proven 3-5 years experience in energy & process water engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of energy & process water systems, HVAC, lighting, vacuum and process equipment.
- Familiarity with energy modeling software and data analysis tools.
- Experience conducting energy & process water audits and implementing resource conservation measures.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to energy management and sustainability.
- Certification as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent is a plus.
- Ability to travel 50-70% of the time.

The compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Pactiv Evergreen, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $81,400 -$135,600.
