Job Description:
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all daily operations of the plant to ensure that all production and safety goals are met.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and make improvements as required.
  • Participate in hiring, promoting, training and developing direct reports.
  • Supervise direct reports ensuring they perform their duties effectively.
  • Oversee regular lab analyses to ensure optimal digester health, adjusting operations based on findings to maintain efficiency and prevent issues.
  • Ensure daily records of site activities, shutdowns, abnormal operations, troubleshooting, and problem areas are created
  • With the guidance of the Plant Manager, assign job tasks to plant operators including but not limited to quality checks, plant performance, troubleshooting, general operations, and problem-solving
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to plant personnel to improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in scheduling shifts, assigning tasks, and managing workloads to ensure efficient staffing
  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all safety standards and environmental regulations
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and emergency drills
  • Address any safety incidents or concerns and ensure proper reporting and resolution.
  • Ensure the plant complies with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager and maintenance team to ensure that all equipment is operating efficiently and is well-maintained
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as biogas production rates, RNG yields, and equipment downtime.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on plant performance for the Plant Manager and upper management.
  • Support data collection efforts and ensure accurate and timely reporting of operations data to management and stakeholders.
  • Prepare periodic status reports that describe operating performance, issues, and forecasts of future performance
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency, maximize biogas yield, and reduce operating costs.
  • Work with the engineering team to evaluate and implement new technologies or upgrades to the plant.
  • Assist in the preparation of the plants budget and monitor expenses to ensure they remain within approved limits.
  • Support resource allocation, including labor, materials, and equipment, to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Act as a point of contact for external stakeholders, including farm partners, contractors, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain open communication with the Plant Manager and other members of the leadership team to ensure alignment on goals and strategies.
  • Ensure that farm and community relations are maintained positively and professionally.
  • Ensure the plant adheres to environmental permits and regulations, including air quality, wastewater, and waste management requirements.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting reports to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Support compliance with renewable energy credits and incentives such as RINs (Renewable Identification Numbers) and LCFS (Low Carbon Fuel Standard) programs.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response efforts, including the development and implementation of emergency action plans.
  • Assist in the coordination of incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by management
  • Participate in Corporate level health and safety program and lead regular site-level Health and Safety meetings

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:

  • Bachelors degree preferred or Associate degree, Vocational-Technical Diploma, or equivalent technical experience
  • 5 years of experience working in a biogas production environment or natural gas industry
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Must be able to work both independently and as a team member
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple simultaneous activities
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills; continuous improvement knowledge skills and abilities
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities.
  • Proven ability to take tasks, assignments, and projects from start to completion without significant supervision
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with diverse personalities.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations.
  • Strong communication skills; written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Physical demands include job site mobility within construction sites, occasionally lifting or moving items more than 25 pounds.
  • Must be local to LaSalle, CO, and be willing to work onsite.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 – $145,000.00 per year
