Job Description

We are seeking an Operations Manager to join our team! Ipsun Solar, a private equity-backed provider, is growing fast and we are looking for someone with 5+ years of Solar field operations experience. This job requires extensive experience in the field installing solar PV, Tesla PowerWall or other similar battery systems, but is comfortable managing the field from the office (or warehouse) and working with other project managers who report to you. The following describes many of the activities required to be successful in this role but is not exhaustive.

Projects and Scheduling

Ensure a culture of safety and teamwork by supporting crews and coaching where necessary

Conduct regular safety audits of crews in the field to ensure safety compliance.

Support crew leads in troubleshooting issues by phone and in the field where necessary

Maintain a schedule of installations 2+ weeks out

Interface with Green Rack project managers and customers to finalize schedule

Assign installations to crews

Ensure that crews have all resources needed from project management and warehouse teams to complete projects in a timely manner.

See that crew leads provide install estimates for every job in the pipeline, or provide that estimate in their absence

Support O&M work via phone and occasionally on-site

People

Cultivate crew leads – support and coach them as they manage their crew members

Lead hiring of new crew members in partnership with your crew leads

Review and approve weekly time cards for all crew members via your crew leads that directly report to you

Maintain reports of labor costs per project

Replace crew gaps within 2 weeks of losing an entry level crew member on a given team. Replace within 4 weeks for crew or roof leads.

Performance reviews:

Conduct written performance reviews of all crew leads

Coordinate with Crew Leads to conduct written performance reviews of all their crew members

Training

Provide and/or procure resources to make sure crew members are learning on the job and at off-site locations as needed

Organize a training schedule

Oversee/Manage procurement manager – who is managing the fleet and warehouse

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years working in the solar industry

Minimum of 2 years of leading multiple installations crews at the same time

OSHA 30 (obtain during 1st year with Green Rack)

NABCEP certification desired

* Ability to work in various Customer Resource Management (CRM) systems used for solar

Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office products

High school diploma or GED (required)

Excellent customer service skills, written and verbal communication skills

Must have a valid state drivers license and clean driving record

Required Physical Abilities

Must be able to lift 50lbs

Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold, crawl spaces, etc.)

Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops and able to work on your feet for long periods of time
