IOWN Renewable Energy, Inc. is seeking a (Senior) Director, Engineering Procurement and Construction to join our team. This is an opportunity to support the growth of IOWN and IOWN clients by utilizing your development and project management experience. This would be a fantastic opportunity to step into a smaller, innovative and nimble team putting to use your passion for leadership and utility-scale project development and services all while working collaboratively with the wind, solar and standalone storage teams in North America.

The candidate will work for a rapidly growing renewable energy company headquartered in San Diego which seeks an innovative, focused, and motivated leader to start a team of professionals doing commercial modeling of projects and deal structures.

Remote candidates will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates who live in or can relocate to San Diego area, CA.

About the Position

The (Senior) Director, Engineering, Procurement and Construction will oversee engineering, procurement, and construction activities across utility-scale wind, solar, and standalone storage projects, and renewable hybrid projects in North America. This is a dynamic role in a growing organization that will lead project implementation and support project development. The (Senior) Director, EPC will manage construction activities for existing projects to ensure on-schedule and on-budget delivery of projects and oversee the cost estimation, engineering, and pre-construction needs of projects in the development pipeline.

Requirements

  • A least 4-6 years of utility-scale renewable energy industry EPC and construction experience with engineering, procurement, construction, due diligence and/or cost estimation.
  • Experience with CAISO, MISO, ERCOT markets is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with battery storage projects is strongly preferred.
  • Keen understanding of supply and demand, policy/regulation, markets, and financial metrics that drive successful project development.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability.
  • Organized, diligent, and able to track and manage multiple streams of information on an ongoing basis.
  • Ownership of workflows to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong cross-cultural relationship building and influencing at all organizational levels.
  • Flexible and cooperative with a well-developed team spirit.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for engineering, procurement of equipment and EPC services, and construction management.
  • Manage internal and external engineering resources to provide best-in-case project engineering services and technology evaluation.
  • Develop and implement strategic procurement program that focuses on delivering competitive levelized cost of energy solutions and mitigating supply chain risks.
  • Qualify and oversee EPC companies to successfully partner and execute on projects.
  • Improve and manage library of EPC-related documents, including RFPs, scopes of work, technical specifications, safety plans, etc.
  • Oversee vendor selection, commercial relationship management, contract negotiation and ongoing contract administration.
  • Be responsible for pre-construction activities, including project scheduling and cost estimating; prepare budgetary and forward-looking cost estimates for wind, solar and storage projects.
  • Work with other internal and external teams and colleagues in the development, construction, and asset management of projects.
