Chief Commercial Officer

My client is the fastest scaling battery storage owner/operator in the United States, and is currently seeking a Chief Commercial Officer or Senior Vice President of Origination, Trading, & Power Marketing to lead their revenue strategy as they enter a new phase of market opportunity.

Summary:

• Lead the firm’s BESS Power Marketing & Origination Strategy
• Identify and evaluate opportunities for power marketing including capacity contracts, tolls, and hedges in WECC, CAISO, SPP, and ERCOT.
• Establish and maintain relationships with C&I customers, utilities, trading firms, and other storage IPPs.
• Oversee trading strategy: market analysis, offtake structuring, and trades.
• Achieve maximum profitability while adhering to regulatory and risk management policies.
• Be an expert on market dynamics and all relevant trading strategies.
• Create forecasts for capacity, energy, REC, basis, and ancillary services, as well as price curves in project underwriting.
• Model revenues for trading strategies (collars, hedges, tolls).
• Prepare budget forecasts.
• Oversee market fundamentals teams.
• Analyze the effectiveness of power marketing & trading strategies.
• Create reports for the Risk Committee and Board identifying market trends.
• Ability to manage exposure to market risks, ensuring compliance with regulatories.
• Manage all aspects of established power marketing, analytics, and trading departments.

Must Haves:

• 10-12 years experience in energy, specifically power marketing & trading.
• Track record of success in origination of both short and long term transactions.
• Deep knowledge of power markets and regulations, as well as market dynamics and pricing.
• Ability to utilize all necessary risk management tools, and relevant platforms for trading.
• Ability to analyze market from all angles and consider all options for asset optimization.
• Leadership capability.
• Ability to represent company interests to the board.
• Self-driven individual that likes an entrepreneurial environment
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
