Your contribution!
As our Site Manager – Solar Energy, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the Hale Kuawehi solar facility on Parker Ranch, near Waimea, on the island of Hawai`i. Working in collaboration with the O&M contractor and the Operations Manager, you will be the main point of contact for operations activity at the facility.
Your day-to-day!
- Ensure that all on-site activities are conducted in accordance with applicable safety standards;
- Ensure that the solar facility is operated and maintained in accordance with OEM and applicable industry standards;
- Ensure that the solar facility is operated and maintained in accordance with PPA requirements to maximize profitability;
- Monitor SCADA for the solar facility and substation to ensure proper plant production and that issues are being appropriately managed;
- Ensure that AC / DC electrical, Balance of Plant (BOP), and other issues are tracked and accurately reported;
- Maintain relationship with local landowners and government agencies;
- Ensure compliance with site environmental regulations pertaining to hazardous waste, oil spill prevention, avian studies, wildlife conservation, and any other applicable regulations/permits/etc.;
- Undertake periodic safety inspections of work being performed at the facility and escalate issues to O&M provider as required;
- Oversee the facility’s operations and ensure that maintenance related activities are aligned with the performance requirements outlined in related contracts;
- Interface with OEMs, O&M service provider, HELCO and other third parties as necessary;
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure that any identified warranty deficiencies are rectified appropriately;
- Produce daily / weekly reports; assist with preparation of monthly reports in accordance with operational, safety, regulatory and environmental performance requirements;
- Engage appropriate internal and external resources to diagnose and rectify performance and reliability issues;
- Represent the company as needed with grid and off-taker entities, as well as in landowner and community relations;
- Manage the daily work of third-party contractors (primarily vegetation contractors) to ensure the safe and effective execution of contracted scope;
- Communicate short to medium-term forecast costs as well as budgetary changes to the appropriate internal departments;
- Review invoices and make sure the costs charged to the project are correct;
- Conduct and report on periodic meetings with contractors and partners;
- Oversee and help coordinate facility commissioning activities with Site Construction Manager and ensure that commissioning activities are aligned with the commissioning plan and site safety plan.
Your skills, our requirements!
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience/training in power generation;
- Experience with operations/maintenance of High Voltage systems would be considered an asset;
- Training in electric circuits and/or electromechanics is a strong asset;
- Have a good knowledge of mobile vehicles (tractors, ATVs, etc.);
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Strong problem-solving skills;
- Self-motivated with a keen ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Ability to multi-task in a complex and dynamic environment;
- Solid team player with strong interpersonal skills;
- Be in good physical condition, able to carry out physical tasks and work outdoors in adverse weather conditions;
- Have a valid driver’s license in good standing;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel.
Additional considerations!
- The position is based at the company’s Hale Kuawehi site in Hawai`i, USA.
- This position is an O4 level with a base salary of $85,000 – $140,000, exclusive of fringe benefits and/or potential bonuses.
