Mid-Senior Transmission Engineer

Tampa, FL (Relocation assistance provided)

This role provides specialized technical guidance and oversight for the design of transmission lines, working closely with a team to deliver cost-effective, high-quality engineering solutions. The engineer will tackle complex technical issues on projects, including those involving renewable energy integration and grid modernization initiatives. Responsibilities include leading design efforts, managing project timelines and budgets, and supporting proposal creation and cost estimations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and resolve intricate engineering issues in transmission and substation projects.
  • Oversee and coordinate the planning, estimating, scheduling, and execution of work activities.
  • Develop precise technical documentation, reports, and calculations.
  • Continuously enhance engineering knowledge and skills through ongoing learning and development.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
  • Develop and review transmission line design packages.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external clients.
  • Manage project deliverables, ensuring they meet deadlines and client expectations.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support project and company goals.

Required Skills

  • Strong foundation in core engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Experience in designing high-voltage transmission lines (69kV or higher).
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as PLSCADD, PLSPOLE, and MFAD.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NESC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE).
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor junior engineering staff.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including budget and schedule management.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience in the electrical power sector, specifically in power transmission.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license.
