Mine Equipment Operator

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Summary: The mine equipment operator position is responsible for performing initial operation inspections and periodic checks of the equipment including but not limited to dozers, off-road trucks, excavators, farm tractors, auger drills, service trucks and perform various other mining and reclamation duties as directed by the Mining Supervisor. The mine equipment operator must be a motivated, self-starter who will work independently and with other plant personnel to perform in a safe manner the responsibilities of the position and needs of the company. This position reports indirectly to the Mine Manager-Andersonville through the Mining Supervisor.
Essential functions of the position:

The mine equipment operator must be able to safely and proficiently operate a variety of equipment to perform the task. In addition, this position performs the shift inspection of the equipment, documents needed maintenance and performs periodic checks during operation as required.

The operator loads trucks, pushes up stock piles and performs various other mining and stockpiling duties.

Other duties as assigned.

Participates in mine and plant safety, health and environmental programs.

Weekend work may be required.
Qualifications: The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires a High School diploma/GED with a minimum of two (2) years mobile equipment experience. Technical degree or certificate program is desired, but not necessary.

Individual must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to co-workers and supervisors. Must have the ability to read and comprehend work instructions, equipment manuals, and safety procedures.

Computer Skills: Familiar with e-mail and some Microsoft Office programs and other basic office computer software a plus.

The ability to learn how to effectively use computer to input data and respond to e-mails.

Physical Requirements: Routine lifting of heavy objects. Subject to frequently climbing on to and off of equipment, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds, and work at heights. Work is subject to standing or walking.

Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job; the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, energized equipment, dusty conditions, high noise, outside weather in all conditions and materials used in the process.

Must have a valid drivers license. CDL license is a plus.
