The Position

Junior Process Engineer

Job Summary

The Junior Process Engineer will assist in the development of engineer process technology for improved operations efficiency or for new products. Projects will consist of identifying and implementing improvements in process technology, troubleshooting production issues, providing support in process scale-up and trials, and serving as the site’s Opex Champion.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Quality & Process Engineer:

  • Plans, organizes and implements process related laboratory experiments, pilot plan trials, and projects.
  • Evaluates process equipment and process flows for plant expansion, improved operations efficiency, and new products.
  • Develops and transfers process technology from concept to production and ensures successful plant commissioning of process technology.
  • Performs and communicates process assessments that troubleshoot production issues.
  • Participates as a team member in projects involving process engineering.
  • Manages and prioritizes projects to a timetable and accounts for the deliverables to internal customers.
  • Develops process simulation models in support of development activities and operations strategic planning.
  • Facilitates the I-Cube savings and associated reporting.
  • Serves as a key member of the I-Cube community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Skills & Attributes Requirements

  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering, chemistry, mineralogy and math
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office or Google Suite
  • Project management skills including planning and experimental design
  • Communication skills including technical writing and presentation
  • Interpersonal skills that enable a good rapport with management, scientists, engineers, technicians, and plant personnel
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Financial assessment and budget planning

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering
  • Two years of engineering experience is desirable

Other

  • Available for domestic travel and for some international travel
  • Flexibility in work schedule to permit plant and pilot plant trial coverage
