Illinois Green Alliance seeks a mid-level professional to champion the on-going growth of the Building Energy Resource Hub project. The Program Manager will develop and implement education programs and services that provide energy efficiency and decarbonization guidance to buildings throughout Illinois. With support from the project team, the Program Manager will co-create an expanded education strategy and oversee implementation including resource development, in-person and virtual events, educational programming, blogs, and newsletter content. Additionally, they will oversee contractors and industry experts hired to assist in content, service, and program development. The Program Manager will coordinate with industry partners for co-branded events and resource development, and implement an outreach strategy that ensures that all target audiences are reached.

The Program Manager is a critical team member responsible for ensuring the programming accelerates market transformation and enables local governments to meet their green building and climate commitments, including the success of new building codes and advanced energy policies. The ideal candidate will have worked in the energy efficiency, commissioning, building design or operations industry and have experience collaborating with building representatives and various disciplines involved in a buildings performance. The Program Manager will report to Illinois Greens Senior Program Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the short- and long-term strategies and vision for the Hub.
  • Maintain the Hubs events calendar and track other sector events and activities.
  • Assist managing the Hubs Advisory Board and stakeholder focus groups.
  • Facilitate conversations and relationships with a variety of external stakeholders, including: community groups, government and local building industry organizations.
  • Manage the development and delivery of the Hubs educational programs and events:
  • Coordinate and implement scoping, direction and execution of the Hubs educational series, thought-leadership programs, and collaborative events; and
  • Coordinate logistics and assist with the delivery of educational programs and event activity, including on-site and live-remote logistics, and development of pre- and post-event resources.
  • Manage development of resources to best support building stakeholders with compliance with new energy performance targets and electrification initiatives for commercial and multifamily buildings.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in building energy efficiency and carbon reduction and develop strong familiarity with Illinois municipal policies including advanced building energy codes and policies.
  • Coordinate potential offerings and services with related organizations and agencies such as the Illinois Climate Bank, Illinois Energy Office, Chicago Department of Buildings, and other local building industry organizations.
  • Serve as a contributing author and editor of Hub publications, newsletters, resources, tools, and web site.
  • Coordinate with consultants and partners on contracts, management, and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical building-related experience in engineering, commissioning, energy efficiency auditing, or building operations
  • Strong understanding of buildings, facilities, and/or manufacturing systems, building energy use, building construction, and energy analysis techniques.
  • Strong familiarity with evolving local energy codes and energy efficiency trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with a variety of building industry stakeholders, specifically building owners, managers, boards, and facilities staff.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to understand and translate complex technical building performance concepts to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Be able to quickly develop familiarity with current energy codes and policies.
  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, and task facilitation.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including the management of multiple concurring building projects, contacts, and consultants.
  • Passion for decarbonization of the built environment, social equity, community engagement, and the mission of Illinois Green Alliance.

Benefits and Compensation
The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $70,000. Offers will be made commensurate to experience. Benefits include:
