IETA is a non-profit organisation representing businesses committed to smart, well-designed and effective carbon markets to help achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

IETA was founded in 1999 as the first international, multi-sectoral, purely business group devoted to pricing and trading greenhouse gas reductions. In more recent years, we have developed work streams on digitisation, aviation, natural climate solutions, voluntary carbon markets, and carbon removals. Our mission is to empower business to engage in climate action and pursue net zero ambitions to advance the Paris Agreement’s objectives and establish effective market-based trading systems that are environmentally robust, fair, open, efficient, accountable and consistent across national boundaries.

In pursuit of our mission, we work to bring together experienced carbon market practitioners and stakeholders in new emissions markets to share lessons learned and best practices. We seek continuous improvement in carbon pricing systems, including innovations to advance natural climate solutions.

We are now on the look-out for an experienced, talented, and creative Digital and Social Media Coordinator to join in-house communications team. Either on a freelance retainer basis or part-time employee. The successful candidate will take ownership of all Social Media activity across multiple channels. The role is hands-on, overseeing all paid and organic Digital and social media content.

As Social Media Coordinator, you will work closely with the Policy team to create all necessary assets for social media campaigns, acting as custodian across all social content to drive the digital communications activity forward, and grow our social following and engagement.

Responsibilities

Your days to day responsibilities will include:

  • Create engaging social media content for various platforms including LinkedIn, X and YouTube
  • Collect, create and maintain media content on our website – ensuring house rules for content and message are adhered too. This includes IETA content and re-posting/amplifying relevant partner social media content
  • Maintain IETA’s reputation for truth and honesty – you’ll have an eye for what looks right and ensure content, both visual and written
  • Manage and deploy all paid and organic social campaigns
  • Collaborate with the Policy and Events team to create all necessary assets for social media campaigns
  • Generate reports on performance and optimisation opportunities, track and analyse social media metrics
  • Create and execute creative social media campaigns, from video and podcasts to still content, to drive the digital communications activity forward, and grow social following and engagement
  • Lead on being reactive to Policy team activities and executing them across appropriate platform, advising on the best ways to use social platforms to IETA’s advantage
  • In collaboration with Policy and Communications team, create engaging online content, maximising on trends and viral content
  • Organise and execute photoshoots to enhance the existing bank of photography and video assets
  • Trend identification and ability to produce reactive content to capitalise on opportunities
  • Working as part of the wider Communications team
  • Develop an optimal posting schedule, considering web traffic and member engagement metrics

Skills/attributes Required

To be successful in the role, you should have the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • An experienced content creator, with expertise on the functionality of social media platforms including LinkedIn, X and YouTube, for organic and paid
  • Content creation experience using software such as Canva, the Adobe design suite or similar programmes
  • Knowledge and experience creating and editing video, podcast and still photography content
  • Knowledge and experience using website CMS – ideally WordPress and Squarespace
  • An in-depth understanding of social media analytics, and a passion for staying on top of industry trends and developments
  • High standards of literacy and grammar with meticulous attention to detail
  • Superb content writing and proof-reading skills
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to build relations and work well with colleagues
  • Creative eye and flair – knowing what looks good, and more importantly what does not!
  • Knowledge and experience of s Google Analytics would be advantageous
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and use initiative to solve problems
  • Ability to make quick and informed decisions where required
  • Ability to synthesize and summarize complex policy documents
  • A diplomatic presence and ability to work with international stakeholders
  • Available for occasional travel, both domestically and International as required

Desired Competencies and Subject Matter Expertise

  • High level understanding of climate change, sustainability, carbon markets, finance and natural climate solutions would be useful
  • High level knowledge of and/or relationships with key stakeholders in the carbon market space is a strong plus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, including in both project design and implementation
  • Evidence of self-starter experience who can take initiative to establish an IETA Digital presence
  • Demonstrated history of strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Written and verbal fluency in English – other languages would be a strong plus

Hours of work

  • Minimum of 2 days (15 hours) per week

Rate and Reporting Lines

  • This role will be to report to the IETA’s Communications Team and will collaborate closely with other staff across the organization involved in Policy and Events. This role is also expected to work closely with partners and key stakeholders supporting our Communication Strategy.
  • Rate will be commensurate with experience.
