Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for an Energy Efficiency Analyst or Senior Energy Efficiency Analyst to join our Customer Operations team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the potential to work up to 40% remote. Relocation assistance may also be provided to the successful candidate.

What does an Energy Efficiency Analyst or Senior –do for us?

An Energy Efficiency Analyst or Senior Energy Efficiency Analyst works independently within a team environment with minimal supervision. They provide analytical support and reporting for the Customer Relations and Research department. They design and conduct cost-benefit analysis for the demand side management (DSM), Energy Efficiency, and Demand Response (DR) programs. They work with outside agencies, contractors, and utilities to obtain data and information concerning DSM programs and analysis. They execute data analysis and integration for the Integrated Resource Plan work team and participates as a member of this team. They develop and/or utilize load estimation models to provide energy savings estimates to Idaho Power load forecast planners. They are responsible for compiling data and analysis for production of Idaho Power’s DSM annual report including Supplement 1-Cost-Effectiveness. They represent Idaho Power at regional and national conferences when needed and to present research data and findings to the Public Utilities Commission, their staff, and Idaho Power management. They are responsible for assessment of impact and process evaluations of Demand Side Management (DSM) and Energy Efficiency (EE) programs at Idaho Power. They manage evaluation and conducts on-going assessments of multiple DSM and EE programs. They perform studies to verify energy savings. They also participate in the issuance of request for proposals (RFPs) and manage the work of evaluation contractors and consultants hired by Idaho Power to conduct evaluation or research projects.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge Of:

  • Cost analysis, financial and economic analysis techniques, and marginal cost analysis
  • Utility DSM practices and procedures

Preferred:

  • Electric utility operations
  • Issues pertinent to the changing electric utility industry
  • Utilities and their business environment
  • Integrated resource planning
  • Power system operation
  • Economic and risk analysis
  • Forecasting and estimating techniques
  • Analytical models and tools
  • Regulatory commission practices and procedures

Skills In:

  • Use of personal computers and commonly used business software applications

  • Analytical research

  • Regulatory commission practices and procedures
  • Managing and coordinating multiple projects
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others
  • Forecasting and computer modeling
  • Fluent use of Excel
  • Database reporting using SQL, Access or other query tools

  • Perform analytical research and solve analytical problems
  • Prepare and deliver presentations
  • Work effectively with other departments and personnel
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Prepare documents & presentations detailing various issues

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Energy Efficiency Analyst

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Business, or related field

OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or related field

Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in statistical or economic modeling, forecasting, accounting, or analysis

Senior Energy Efficiency Analyst

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in statistical or economic modeling, forecasting, accounting, or analysis

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is a sedentary job requiring working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. Ergonomic accommodations including sit to stand desks are available and installed as needed.
