ATR Utility Area Operator (UAO) – (21871)
DESCRIPTION
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Utility Area Operator to work in our Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) organization. Our team works a 4×12 schedule located out of our ATR facility. All worked is performed onsite.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform continuous surveillance and functional testing on the ATR Complex raw water distribution, cold waste systems, warm waste treatment and discharge system, emergency diesel generator switchgear in TRA-609, and plant and instrument air equipment.
- Maintain demineralizer plant water chemistry within specified parameters. Monitor all TRA-608 alarm panels and make notifications to the UAS or Shift Supervisor of alarm status in outer area buildings. Monitor TRA-605 warm waste treatment facility status and respond to abnormal system performance or alarms. Respond to the scene of events or casualties throughout the complex and take corrective actions as directed by the UAS or Plant Foreperson.
- Perform routine Utility Area building checks. Operate the demineralizer plant to maintain adequate supply of demineralized water. Responsible for all ATR Complex Utility Area operational duties under ATR Programs control as directed.
- Respond to remote TRA-608 alarms received in the Reactor Control room and take necessary corrective actions to address the condition. Perform duties as the Fissile Material Handler in the NMIS facility under the direction of the NMIS technical leader.
- Ensure that the Utility Area Daily Summary Report and Utility Area Status Board is accurate and up-to-date. Maintain detailed and accurate narrative logs.
- Perform continuous training for the next level of certification.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma and <1 year experience or training (e.g., military technical schools or vocational training.) or High School diploma and 1-2 years relevant experience.
- Experience operating equipment and machinery such as diesel engines, air compressors and pumps, maintaining water treatment systems, including monitoring, sampling, and analysis.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy “L” clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information:
- The pay for this position is $34.99/hour (Rate can vary based upon individual work location, clearances, and qualifications. Rates are accurate for current posting and subject to change. These are bargaining unit positions.)
- TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
