Job Description

Join a multi-national R&D team in this NJ based research role developing, optimizing, and delivering new polymeric materials for advance next generation energy storage applications. This highly dynamic position will have a strong voice in new development activities for an established global organization. The goal of this role will be to lead research initiatives, leverage industry knowledge and business development skills to drive innovative technical projects with the aim of satisfying unmet needs in the industry and creating sustainable relationships with new partners and customers.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Building a pipeline of new polymer materials for diverse energy storage devices, across current and future generation technologies
  • Developing new polymeric binders, dispersants, coatings and electrolytes for metal ion batteries
  • Utilize your experience and network to drive technical projects and create sustainable relationships with new partners and customers
  • Utilize product development experience and business development skills to identify opportunity and create innovative solutions.
  • Use market voice to shape a new polymer product portfolio.
  • Represent company to customers acting as the technical point of contact.
  • Interact with Manufacturing, Marketing, Procurement and Sales functions with a real opportunity to influence the strategy of the functional polymers segment.
  • Lead & execute technology projects which result in projects which result in new technical capabilities molecules, formulations, intellectual property, processes, and contribute to future project generation.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • PhD in Electrochemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science or Engineering (MS level with significant industry knowledge and demonstrated research leadership experience will be considered)
  • 2+ years of relevant energy storage industry experience and knowledge of advanced battery technologies (including cell, pouch and battery pack).
  • A strong ability to work collaboratively within the research team and with global colleagues from diverse technical specialties.
  • Ability to interpret experimental data (performance and characterization) into technology design.
  • Substantial industry knowledge from both technical and market perspectives.
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively to varied audiences. Develop and share compelling technical arguments with knowledge and confidence.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage external resources to successfully deliver products that bring value.

Enthusiasm and determination to act as a change agent.

  • Decisiveness – ability to deal with uncertainty and ambiguity, taking a flexible approach when needed information is limited by external circumstances.
  • Strong project management skills, ability to efficiently balance priorities and make independent and timely decisions.
  • Prior commercial development experience of coin and pouch cells is highly desirable.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $130,000.00 per year
