ABOUT THE ROLE

The Regional Senior Process Engineer oversees and supports plant discussions and investigations to improve throughput, efficiency, quality, and environmental performance. Through data analysis, field measurements, Process related audit work and conversations with employees are able to diagnose issues and develop solutions. Supports and assists the plant towards greater performance.

Position Location: This position may be based out of any of these locations, candidates would be required to relocate if they are not local to these areas:

  • Ravena Cement Plant – Ravena, NY
  • Midlothian Cement Plant – Midlothian, TX
  • Ste Genevieve Plant – Bloomsdale, MO

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Drives Health and Safety according to the regional and plant priorities. Makes positive contributions to the plants’ safety activities and initiatives.
  • Primary to the Senior Process Engineer position is the coordination and participation in improvement of the Plant’s technical capabilities.
  • The Senior Process Engineer’s objectives are to initiate process optimization in collaboration with Quality, Production and Maintenance to ensure maximum and efficient utilization of the plant’s equipment.
  • This position has a requirement of elevating the technical knowledgeand practices of all facets of the operation.
  • Continuously analyze equipment/system performance (e.g. specific electrical and thermal energy consumption, refractory consumption, Overall Equipment Efficiency), document findings and propose solutions for improvements
  • Develop standard operating procedures and targets. Train and coach operation personnel to apply them consistently
  • The Senior Process Engineer provides technical support to the plant’s production, quality, and environmental functions. Understands strategies, priorities, and optimization techniques that assist the plant in attainment of plant and company objectives. Evaluates operations, processes, and trends through the use of audits and systematic approaches (OEE teams, RCA, TIS, HLC, etc). Monitor the performance and optimize the operation of High Level Control Systems (HLC)
  • Promote the increased use of AFR (Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials); provide comprehensive technical expertise to evaluate AFR with respect to their impact on the process; develop and implement solutions to eliminate/reduce impact of AFR on the process operation
  • Provides technical support on implementation of new equipment and/or new procedures including training of plant personnel as required. Serves as coach / mentor in process and other departments.
  • Conduct economic and operational feasibility studies on proposed modifications and/or additions. Commission and de-bottleneck new installations
  • Ensure compliance with internal control procedures – communicating problems in operations, unwarranted deviations from established standards, and violations of policy or law.

What We Are Looking For

Education: Bachelors degree

Field of Study Preferred: Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Automation Engineering, similar disciplines

Required Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of cement plant experience

Licenses Preferred: Holcim Process Performance Engineer certification

Required Computer and Software Skills: Strong computer expertise in but not limited to: SAP, TIS, HLC, Microsoft Office.

Travel Requirements: Up to 50% national travel

Additional Requirements

  • Cement Process engineering
  • Experience managing technology development and pilot projects
  • Experience working in process industries, e.g. cement, power generation, oil and gas
  • Strong problem identification and solving, analytical and written and verbal communication skills
  • Dynamic and innovative approach
  • Able to successfully manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to build strategic working relationships within the company and with external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment, including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
