Job Summary:

The Controller will play a pivotal role in managing the companys financial operations and accounting functions. Reporting directly to the COO, the Controller will ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulations. This role requires a strong leader with technical expertise, along with a passion for renewable energy. Our Controller will get to work with a small, goal-oriented team of passionate and collaborative leaders in this growing field.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Provide financial forecasts to support the budgeting process, business planning, and decision-making
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with company policies and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations. Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as needed
  • Oversee cash flow management and ensure optimal utilization of company funds. Manage banking relationships and financing strategies
  • Supervise and mentor the accounting resources, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment
  • Provide in-depth financial analysis and insights to support strategic initiatives, operational efficiency, and business growth
  • Identify and implement improvements in accounting systems, processes, and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Work closely with other departments, including operations, to align financial goals with overall business objectives
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships, demonstrating a commitment to our core values of Respect, Agility, and Follow-Through

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights
  • Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, Excel, and other financial systems
  • Solid communication skills both written and verbal
  • High level of integrity and dependability
  • Positive attitude and willing to collaborate with others exercising strong teamwork skills

Education and Experience:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • Experience working in the renewable energy or construction industry a plus

Compensation

$120,000- $150,000 annual salary depending on experience plus a 10% bonus potential based on company metrics and departmental KPIs. Work Location:

Must be able to commute at least 3 days each week to offices in Niwot, CO and Longmont, CO. Some travel required for conferences, client or vendor meetings and ongoing educational opportunities.
