JOB PURPOSE:
At H3X, we are building the most advanced electric motors in the world for sustainable aviation, marine, industrial, and defense applications. At 12 kW/kg continuous, the HPDM family of integrated motor drives is a step change in electric propulsion technology and removes one of the main barriers blocking widespread proliferation of electric and hybrid aircraft. Our motors range in size from 30 kW to 30 MW and are 3X lighter than competitors systems.
As H3X continues to grow, additional development testing and production equipment will be required. This role will be responsible for all test equipment software including dynamometers and End-Of-Line test stands. Applicants should have experience with LabVIEW or other controls software and have worked in a production and/or R&D environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with design and test teams to develop test equipment such as dynamometers, test stands, component testers, etc.
Define and maintain test control system requirements
Develop software to meet requirements and validate both its functionality and user interface
Streamline data accessibility for the entire company
Continuously implement and upgrade control systems
Enable automated testing via robust control software
Identify and solve inefficiencies and prevent potential equipment failures
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree or higher in software engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent
Proficiency with a range of programming languages and environments, including Python, LabVIEW, NI Veristand, and HIL test equipment programming
Experience with R&D test and manufacturing equipment
Experience with various system controllers such as cRIO, PXI, and PLCs
Experience with high-speed data acquisition systems (e.g. power analyzers)
Experience with collecting data and calibrating a wide array of sensors for pressure sensing, voltage sensing, current sensing, torque measurements, speed measurements, accelerometer readings and temperature measurements
Experience developing automated test execution and data processing programs
High intelligence, high energy, and high integrity
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively share knowledge and build the collective mindshare of the company
Organized and obsessive attention to detail: no room for oversight when designing flight critical systems
Humble and open mind: willingness to accept feedback and learn, consistently improve upon yourself and the product for which you will be responsible
A high degree of emotional intelligence: ability to collaborate closely with coworkers in a respectful and empathetic manner
Fundamentally curious and motivated my first principles
Ability to access export-controlled data
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with electrical harnessing and control panel manufacturing
Experience with production/manufacturing control systems
Experience with sensor selection and accuracy analysis
Experience with electric machine dynamometers
