The Guidehouse Energy, Sustainability, & Infrastructure (ES&I) team provides strategic, management, and policy consulting to clients across the energy value chain that aim to support and finance the energy transition. Our team works with utility clients in the South, Mid-Atlantic, and Central region of the US to deliver the next generation of solutions for a decarbonized and resilient energy future. We combine our managing consulting, project management, client engagement, market knowledge, and years of experience working with utilities with strategic perspectives on energy transformation.

What You Will Do:

The Energy Transformation Managerleads and delivers small projects, or workstreams of complex projects/programs, to help our clients strategize, plan, implement, and evaluate transformational initiatives. Theseprojects typically span business and technology and include growth strategy, product development, operating model design, process improvement, data & analytics, and grants management. The Energy Transformation Managerwill help create thought leadership to shape the future of grid modernization, customer-centric solution design, climate risk and resilience planning, and data-driven strategy.

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in electrical utilities and has a passion for creative problem solving, client service, and project management who is interested in growing their expertise, industry relationships and career.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Leading your team in creative problem solving and outcome driven solutions for clients
  • Managing teams to provide detailed fact finding, research, and analysis on energy-related activities
  • Performing, advising, and reviewing technology assessments, statistical analyses, and economic analyses
  • Facilitating meetings and working sessions between client departments and organizations to lead discussions, form relationships and facilitate consensus-building
  • Communicating solutions and new strategies to clients through reports and presentations
  • Organizing and preparing reports, presentations, and other documents for client deliverables
  • Working effectively with colleagues and client staff as part of a project team, delegating work and managing colleagues as needed; work independently as needed
  • Mentoring and managing junior staff

What You Will Need:

  • Due to nature of client engagements, US Citizen or US Permanent Resident required
  • Managing Consultant requires aBachelors degree and 5+ years of relevant industry or consulting experience (excluding internships/coops, or fellowships); Or Masters degree and 3+ years of relevant industry or consulting experience (excluding internships/coops, or fellowships)
  • Associate Director requires a Bachelors degree and 7+ years of professional experience with utility consulting organizations, professional consulting services in the Utilities industry, strategy consulting within Utilities, or management consulting for Energy/Utilities companies in the United States ; OrMasters degree and 5+ years of professional experience with utility consulting organizations, professional consulting services in the Utilities industry, strategy consulting within Utilities, or management consulting for Energy/Utilities companies in the United States
  • A high level of understanding of utility grid modernization, DER/DERMs, electric transmission and distribution infrastructure planningand operations
  • Experienced in developing and delivering presentations to executive audiences
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to work onsite in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location
  • Level of hire will be determined through Guidehouse interview process

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Preference will be given to candidates within 60 miles of a Guidehouse office
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, including advanced organizational and project management skills
  • Prior consulting experience with client facing role
  • Knowledge of industry technologies such as energy storage, solar, electric vehicle infrastructure, DERs, OMS, ADMS, and GIS
  • Experience with program oversight such as capital programs or grants management
  • Excellent at visualizing data, synthesizing insights, and storytelling with data
  • A history of successful, creative problem-solving within the utilities industry
  • Excitement to explore the underlying cause of the observation and result
  • Experience with cloud technologies
  • Ability to collaborate as a part of team, as well as to work independently

The annual salary range for this position is $109,100.00-$163,700.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
