Pharma Supply Sustainability Programme Manager, Carbon Neutral

To assist the Carbon Net Zero and Green Lab Lead in the implementation of GSC net zero climate impact programmes including both Carbon and Water.

  • Achieving GSC Net zero climate impact (GHG protocol scope 1 &2)
  • Establishing and implementing carbon neutral plans and roadmaps.
  • Eliminating as far as possible the use of fossil fuel on GSC sites, by the introduction of alternative and innovative technology and ensuring the infrastructure is compatible and future proofed for these changes.
  • Ensuring refrigerant and HFA losses are minimised at sites and are adhering to the latest legislation.
  • Managing Energy, Net Zero Carbon and Water Kaizen events.
  • Supporting the Target setting process and working with sites to monitor monthly performance.

In this role you will:

  • Report to the Carbon Net Zero and Green Lab Lead.
  • Support GSC Engineering and EHS leadership teams with the setting and delivery of challenging but achievable targets.
  • Lead, coach and support GSC sites to develop a sustainable programme of project activity and deliver this programme in line with GSK expectations. Interface and manage consultancy companies to help support to the program.
  • Positively influence senior key stakeholders in order to gain support and sponsorship for programme implementation.
  • Lead multiple cross-site teams and communities of practice.
  • Carry out site visits in order to support sites in identifying energy and water saving opportunities, developing project proposals and implementing projects. The role will involve international travel to GSC and GSK sites.

  • Degree level qualifications in an appropriate discipline
  • An ability to define and lead a complex programme of multi-site site activity, realising proven benefits.
  • A track record of working with and influencing a wide range of senior and practitioner stakeholders at site and above site levels to develop and deliver coherent improvement activity and changes in ways of working.
  • An in depth understanding of site utilities and services and their contribution to manufacturing operations.
  • The ability to analyse, trend and summarize data, then to communicate results and conclusions effectively.
  • A proven track record of problem solving innovation and ability to apply new technology.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • An ability to lead and facilitate site and inter-site workshops attended by multi-functional staff.
  • Experience of working effectively across diverse multiple functions, geographic locations and local cultures.
  • Extensive experience in prioritising and resolving complex technical or business process issues.
  • Knowledge of Energy / Carbon and Water Management practices and techniques. Up-to-date knowledge of international government and industry trends, regulations and practices in the climate change and sustainability arena.
  • A proven track record of delivery of projects across multiple sites.
  • Successfully applied project management methods and controls in improvement projects.
