Title: ESG Specialist FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: General Counsel

Pay: $ 75,000-$87,000 /yr.

We work directly with 20+ municipalities and 50+ jurisdictions, operate highly regulated facilities in 10+ locations, and have 1,000+ employees.

We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged ESG Specialist to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our office at 610 E. Gish Rd. in San Jose and limited job-related travel may be required.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Prepare quarterly and annual GRI/ESG framework and emission reports.
  • Prepare physical climate risk and net zero scenario models and reports.
  • Model and track ESG goals, KPIs, SBTi and net zero targets against metrics.
  • Manage the GreenWaste Women’s Group.
  • Prepare ESG charts for Board meetings.
  • Prepare sections of Sustainability Report and GRESB report.
  • Provide data collection, management and analysis for ESG reporting, Board reporting, jurisdiction reporting, presentations, survey responses, materiality matrix, RFP responses, grants, award applications, emissions credits, regulatory disclosures and verifications.
  • Distill and summarize internal and external data to provide support as needed for ESG objectives and initiatives, including related to performance and efficiencies across the business, supply chain decisions, sales strategies, community engagement, product development, capital decisions, external messaging, diversity, inclusion, sustainability, and real estate management.
  • Research and prepare new, innovative strategies, awards and educational materials to promote recycling, sustainability and Company ESG efforts.
  • Stay current with industry trends, benchmarks and best practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • ProcessMap, UL, Microsoft or similar EHS or ESG management software/database knowledge and experience.
  • GRESB reporting knowledge.
  • LEED, GRI, CDP, SBTi, ESRS, TCFD, SFDR and other ESG certification knowledge.
  • Knowledge of investor or private equity ESG frameworks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Communications, Public Administration, Risk Management, Legal, Finance, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Social Governance, Environmental Policy, ESG or a related field.
  • 3+ years of ESG reporting or financial reporting on environmental, social and governance issues experience, including in-house experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in project management.
  • ESG reporting, risk, green building or management Certification.

Computer Skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, databases or related software.

Certificates, Licenses , Registrations

Valid Class C Driver’s License

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift fifteen pounds at times.
  • Travel within California required up to 20% of the time.

Work Environment

Typical work week is Monday through Friday. Typical office environment. Occasional off-site meetings. Might be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and odors/smells. Ability to work in setting where time constraints and timely communication with management is crucial.
