Job Purpose/Background:
As Greenbacker continues to raise capital and grow our investment portfolio, an opportunity has presented to join the team as a AVP of Asset Management. This role will report to the VP of Operations and will work closely with the entire Greenbacker Operations team, while also representing Greenbacker as the designated point of contact for solar/BESS assets. This may require fulfilling reporting and compliance obligations to customers, financial partners, utilities, and regulatory organizations. The Operations team is responsible for operating our existing solar/BESS and wind assets as well as conducting technical diligence on new acquisitions. This AVP of Asset Management position will be focused initially on managing the asset management team on our DG, Utility and BESS fleet.
The position will require occasional project-related travel as well as travel to conferences and industry events.
Key Responsibilities:
Asset Management Lead:
- Oversee a portfolio of 1.5 GW of utility, DG solar PV (and solar + storage) assets owned and operated by Greenbacker
- Accountable for portfolio management and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Contractual/Compliance Management:
- Manage asset management team to ensure compliance-related tasks have prompt completion and maintain compliance with agreements, regulations, and other requirements
- Responsible for all regulatory obligations on operational assets (NERC, FERC, EIA, PUCs, ISOs, etc.)
- Managing all commercial and bank compliance and servicing agreements
Reporting, Monitoring & Optimization:
- Deliver, or ensure the delivery of, fleet performance and operational activity reports required for internal/external parties
- Understand and assess causes for technical and financial underperformance of assets in collaboration with the Operations and Accounting team assigned to each asset
- Identify deficiencies and develop solutions to improve the financial health of our assets under management. Help automate and improve processes for reporting and compliance requirements

Budget, Revenue and Expense Oversight:
- Budgets, P&L review, expense tracking and approvals along with budget recast and cost forecasting analysis
- Revenue oversight for AM team including REC management, third party vendors, capacity and curtailment, BESS incentives, day ahead forecast/pricing and accrual/billing recognition
Communications:
- Act as point of contact for off-takers, lessors, regulatory organizations, and financial parties
- Manage, projects and initiatives including onboarding new assets for the Asset Management team to enhance productivity and organization of the department
- Work closely with the field operations and performance engineering teams to oversee the Greenbacker fleet
- Collaborate with Risk Management and Legal teams in managing and completing insurance claims. Manage and resolve warranty claims and off-taker disputes
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:
- 5+ years of experience in a solar/BESS asset management-related role
- Experience with Energy Market management including Day-Ahead and Real-Time trading and scheduling, and Merchant Risk Management
- Deep experience with plant operations, regulatory compliance, contractual management, and financial and technical reporting on solar/BESS assets
- Financial Analysis experience working through P&L statements as well as financial budgets
- Highly skilled and experienced in problem solving and issue resolutions, not necessarily exclusive to the renewable energy sector
- Highly proficient in learning and implementing new software tools and maximizing their full potential
- Prior management of direct reports
